In the comics (regular continuity) the simbiont came from the planet were the Beyonder took the major heroes and villains to fight. The simbiont does not need a host both in the comics and movie but it is stronger that way. Both in the movies and comics.
In the comics Parker revealed himself to MJ and at the time she said that she already knew that. The GG figured out that Pete and Spidey were the same. And then Harry did the same too. And in the comics Harry also died after saving Pete's life and also said that they were best friends.The Goblin did die or at least everybody thought he did, untill some shmuck decided to bring him back! 😠
If you were talking about those kinds of errors you could as well throw the fact that Gwen was Pete's girlfriend before MJ. That she and Eddie Brock never even met and much more.
But I think this is a movie and some things can be modified if it is done propperly.

Hey are you a predator/Alien fan....now that film was a major dissapointment....all the hype....finally the two meet...and the film was crap...
