I knew a girl who did it in something like 9 or 10. Beginner is crap, you can get away with just clicking randomly and then make a good time.

Did you know, Microsoft installs Spyware on your PC so that they can curb Minesweeper cheating!? 😲

I've done a sub 2 minute on expert, but I lost that score after the odd format...

There used to be a way to edit the high scores, but it involves serious hacking skills like opening a text file, modifying it, and then saving it again. I can't find that file anymore, they must have changed something. Damn Bill Gates ruined my life with his l33t security skillz on minesweeper.

If I remember correctly, with one of the older windows versions, you could press escape and pause the time. Or something like that.

My mad winmine skillz means I can do it the 'hard' way...

I can believe it is possible for the 1 second on beginner though because I have had 2 seconds on another PC once.

Would you be a good hotelier if after each of the barrings, a lot ...[text shortened]... be next to get barred?

How long would you stay in business in that kind of environment?

D
In short, yes, I would. If someone is doing something disrespect and/or harmful in my house, it is my responsiblity to take out the trash. It is not my job to explain the situation to every guest who walks through my door from that day forward. Would I stay in business? You're darn right I'd stay in business, as most sensible people would understand we're just doing our job, keeping the hotel safe and comfortable. If they are so worried about or practices, again, I would be happy to help them find accommodations elsewhere.

They key to business is to just take care of your business. Take care of the client. Take care of your service/product. The money will follow. What will COST you money is catering to every idiot who wishes to assert something absurd, ignoring problems to appease people, and counting beans instead of just taking care of the client. That is sound business, PERIOD! It has worked for me, as it worked for my mentor, and his before him. It is honest and fair. It is the only SENSIBLE way to do business!

That's my take atleast, you are welcome to disagree.

Yes, aware it is easy to fake. Especially on older versions of windows which is just a case of editing a text file.

Unfortunately a screenshot is the only proof I have without showing my PC.

EDIT: Just found (although incidently makes it even harder to prove that I didn't cheat) that on XP, to find the times in the registry, go to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\winmine

The REG_WORD keys Time1, Time2 and Time3 keep the times.

Why anyone would actually 'cheat' with minesweeper is bloody beyond me...

Seems I was wrong about the intermediate, it's actually a second faster. The other two top scores are on my PC at home, you'll just have to take my word for it.
