I'm really hoping your aproaching the halfway mark Seirawan. I can't relate to your age but it feels like I'm closing in pretty fast! I've learned to slow down and enjoy God's creation. I just turned 29, and I have been learning more and more to take great care of my family and give more hugs and I love you's.
I saw an excellent movie last weekend called "Riding Giants" (it's about big wave surfing). In the movie they interview a doctor/surfer who says that people who become very ill often start living better than they did when they were in good health. They get the BS out of their lives and focus on what's important.

You know, I have this hunch that this guy is not really Yasser Seirawan.

You know, when Mark Twain toured Australia he discovered that many people fondly remembered his previous tour - the only problem being that he had not done a previous tour. An outstanding impostor had stepped in and filled the need for a lecture series by Mark Twain in Australia.
The point being, most of the people on this site would love to have YS here and participating in this vibrant community, and most of us would settle for a reasonably competent impersonation.
So if you're the real guy, we're delighted, and it's a privilege to have you here. If not, well, you're doing a great job so far don't let us down.
We'll just have to see. I find his constant grammatical and spelling errors startling for someone who's written 13 books, his casual dropping of biographical info a little forced, and his description of himself as a "7 year old boy from Syria Idolizing the young Robert Fischer" a bit strange for someone who didn't even learn to play chess until he was 12 years old.
If you're the real Seirawan, my apologies. But I certainly have my doubts.
I have authored 16 books. 13 have been published. I have never claimed to be an english teacher, That is what editors are for, look for my new book to come out in november chronicling the 1989 western hemisphere championship. As for specifics about my life i encourage you to ask away that is what I am here for. As for when I started to play chess I think I would know better. I learned when I was 7 didnt take it seriously until 1972 as you seem to know. I suppose the next question will be how old was I when I earned my Grandmaster title, 19. I am here please ask away.

Originally posted by jgvaccaroI absoulutely agree with you jg... I guess we could take his word but really any Bill, Larry, and Tom could have made the name Seirawan. I've actually done some research too. Heres some facts for you. From his game right now he played Petroff Defence. I have 200+ (203 to be exact) games of Y Seirawan as black playing against 1.) e4. Now in 198 of those games his response to 1.) e4 was either c6, c5, e6, or d6. Hmmm he played two games using Petroff defence and that is where he needed a draws in that tournament. But even the game which he did use Petroff didn't start like the game he has going on now. Both went ( 1. e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nf6 3.Nxe5 d6 4. Nf3 Nxe4 5.) d4 d5 . . . There are also other things that are suspicious like how he comments that "correspondence chess is much different... and for that reason I will only play [players] 2000+" . . . . . . . of course .... We musn't rule out the possibility that he might have made some new theory(which he never played before) and a new style of playing chess which he decided to unleash it to the world through a correspondence chess site... Makes you wonder. 😏
You know, I have this hunch that this guy is not really Yasser Seirawan.
