Oh I see what you mean. Well, yes, I hope people are a little more on thier guard next time. I thought it was odd when he came straight into the forums offering personal details before he'd even started a game - and then for someone who wanted to help people, he insisted on only playing 2000+ right off the bat. Oh well... live and learn and all that.

nah! lynching's too unropeular.

i have to admit though that a virtual pillory has a somewhat pleasant ring to it 😀
equipped with virtual rotten vegetables and fruit 😀

i don't think you were present for one of the greatest scams in RHP history which happened a few months ago. a certain user created multiple identities and conned (supposedly with good intentions) people into believing that they were real people with real problems. RHPers poured out their support and hearts to these 'individuals'. some even bought subscriptions for them.

now what kind of a place is this!! people don't know each other and they buy subscriptions for strangers to help them out? can you believe it! it's really incredible how giving people here are.

when the truth came out there was a justifiable furor!

the particular user had actually had a subscription bought for him by a most unusual individual that many of us know - SirLoseALot.

what made him unusual was that while practically everyone was condemning this swindling (and justifiably so), all he did was say to the violator of trust: "naughty boy!"

no vindictiveness, no harshness - he didn't even want his money back (which i think should have been returned to him by the one who took it).

I thought that was a remarkable demonstration of the highest quality! and i have admired the poise of SirLoseALot ever since!

there are many people here who offer much to admire - and sometimes they shine even brighter when the darkness sets about them.

in friendship,
prad

What I didn't understand about people believing him is this: Yasser Seirawan is a chess businessman and well-known organizer for US chess groups and charity organizations. He deals with big names in FIDE and the chess elite all the time trying to get agreement on the organization of a real world championship. Read your chess news and he's nearly always doing some kind of deal, writing letters (with good grammar no less!). If he didn't know how to get in contact with the site admins about chess subscriptions and had to post in the General Forum for such information... well, I just found/find it hard to believe. Also, undoubtedly, he's already ovewhelmed with requests for chess help from readers of his books as well as from his former connection with Inside Chess and now Chess Cafe. I would seriously doubt he'd open himself up to a free-for-all chess help thread with all else he's involved in. If it were a quid-pro-quo offer of help in return for getting the site's help with accounts for his school chess program, I'd understand, but that wasn't very clear.

I have been asked not to post as it seems I cause upheavel and distractions that are not beneficial to the sites community. This has never been my intention and I appologize for any miscommunication we may have had. Russ has asked me a few simple questions, which I inturn have honestly answered as I always have. Russ is confirming my identity with the contacts I gave him at www.af4c.org, As soon as he is provided all the information he needs I am sure he will make an announcement listing his discoveries. At such a time as this happens and the site discovers that I am indeed Yasser Seirawan a long list of appologies I trust would be in order, I only ask that you keep them to yourself as I do not wish to indulge in this argument anymore, I am who I say I am and that is that. Since I have been asked not to post, the chess help no matter how beginner like it maybe will go on hold, I encourage you to private message me and ask any chess related questions that you may have.It has been a tad bit frustrating but I understand certainly reasonable. I thank you again for all of you gracious hospitality, I have been well met.
Very Truly Yours

I'm sorry that you did not receive an appropriately warm welcome.
My offer still stands for you to join our Ivory Tower clan. No
identification would be required for that.

That was an appropriate exit.
