The post that was quoted here has been removedAll serious, though, it is hard to quit. I can't smoke sober but I need to smoke when I'm drinking so I know what causes me to smoke. If you really want to quit, remove yourself from what makes you want to smoke.
BTW, to answer the question, I haven't tried any alternatives to quit smoking. The only person that can make you quit is you, despite how cheesy that sounds.
Here is a cunning plan - try and only go out when it is really horrible weather.
With the new anti smoking laws requiring you to go out on the street for a smoke, it will feel like more of a chore to do it and might just be the deciding factor between doing it and not.
Also, if you go out sometimes with people you know who dont smoke, there will be less temptation for you to start it up.

,,,a visit to a hypnotist is not expensive...pay by the visit ( don't sign a contract ) ..use the visit to do two things...smoking inhibition and explore
the idea of past lives or if not so inclined go back to your early childhood and either revisit some very happy times or explore a relationship with a
person you have a poor relationship with...both may be productive and one may be very interesting..no sense is wasting money on only one subject when you can lie on the couch and do both...and a nice small quality cigar with a nice two shots of whiskey every three days won't kill anyone...enjoy life..
