I rather think this is in the area of urban legends. The Enterprise would not get close enough to a lighthouse for there to be a problem it seems to me, plus the navy radar would clearly label the land and its environs. It would also be clear the lighthouse would be still, not moving, while the carrier would be the one traveling. All in all, it looks like a joke sent in to the readers digest.

The American armed forces help protect the freedom of the western world. Even if the politicians get it wrong , or fall out of favour, the deeds of the men on the ground still count.

Not too long ago in this country everyone was forced to believe in and live according to the christian bible. Those fanatic christians learned that cultural freedom and the individual's right to pursue their own religion is the correct way to go about things, what makes you think muslims won't also?
