@fmf saidWhy should it be? That's idiotic.
Your own posting content and behaviour, of course, is very much on-topic when you are here trying to discuss ways of restricting or silencing posting you disapprove of.
If you have the same option everyone else has in being the owner of a thread, and I show up, throw me out!
What the F is so hard to comprehend about that?
My behavior is NOT the issue, It is weather or not you want the option to vanquish posters in your thread.
@fmf saidagain, another unwarranted slam from you, and one that is obviously off topic.
What standing do you think you have in this matter of deciding what other people's posting "ought to be"? It doesn't even take much more than a cursory look at your posting on the Debates Forum to see that you are part of RHP forum posting at its very worst.
if we had such thread owners abilities, you'd have been his-twa long ago.
@earl-of-trumps saidYour lack of credibility and complete hypocrisy - with regard to "the way posting ought to be" - is totally on-topic.
again, another unwarranted slam from you, and one that is obviously off topic.
@earl-of-trumps saidWhy? Because you are not comfortable about my observations about your thread topic/your hypocrisy? This is why you seek the power to silence dissent and diversity of perspective? Me confronting you is completely on-topic and it has drawn out your true colours.
if we had such thread owners abilities, you'd have been his-twa long ago.
@earl-of-trumps saidI think things are fine as they are. I think people ought to post as they see fit. If you want to create a cesspool, so be it.

You have no credibility lecturing others on "The Way Posting Ought to Be" and you should not be given any power whatsoever to curtail or censor anyone's contribution to any thread.
If you don't want people to post in a way you don't like on threads you start, then don't start threads.
@earl-of-trumps saidBut I don't want that option. I don't want to throw anyone off threads. I don't want anyone to have that option. I don't want anyone to have the power to throw people off threads [aside from mods].
If you have the same option everyone else has in being the owner of a thread, and I show up, throw me out!
And I certainly think it is ridiculous that a poisonous misanthrope - who excuses his own trash posting by saying "When in Rome..." - like you, should seeking to restrict others' ability to post freely in this community.
@earl-of-trumps saidYour behaviour IS an issue. I don't want [especially] you to have the power to restrict other people's posting BECAUSE of who you are and because of your low-integrity posting behaviour.
My behavior is NOT the issue, It is weather or not you want the option to vanquish posters in your thread.
More broadly, I don't want any poster to have the power you are aspiring to have, even the ones I admire and respect.
That it is you who is proposing to be given censorship power is laughable, given the entirely-relevant issue of your behaviour.
Imagine a completely poisonous and emotionally/intellectually unstable poster like Duchess64 being able to start dozens and dozens of threads per week/day - all of them propagandizing, virtue-signalling, designed to tee up tireless browbeating and torrents of highly repetitious personalized abuse and insults - and then ALSO giving her the power to delete other posters' contributions, opinions, dissent, corrections, push-back.
Just imagine it. How on Earth might that in any conceivable way be anything other than to the detriment of the forum?
Come on Earl of Trumps, think it through just a wee bit, please.
And you have the sheer gall to call MY point of view "idiotic"??

-Removed-With all due respect dive I do see what you are looking to do, and still disagree with it. I will not be changing my mind on this. We have site moderators who do a good job managing disruptive posters or removing posts which in their opinion are not appropriate.
As we all know the Forums are slow now, put people in charge of moderating their own threads would be an issue, very bias in my opinion. If it isn't "Censorship" I don't know what you want to call it?
Who would decide if a poster was an offender? 10 posts in 24 hours is a joke. I can post 10 or more times in one thread as a few others on here can. I think some of you want the forums run the way clubs are run, then just start a club weren't you in the Ghost Chamber for awhile? That didn't seem to work out well.
I believe you'll see a big cut in the posters and posting if this were implemented. You can't just set things in motion everything would need to be voted on. Would Russ even allow this, have you spoken to him about it personally or in P.M.?
It is his Site at the end of the day he has the final say! People like myself who wouldn't like it, have other Chess sites they can go to, although I would really miss this one. I am a life time member at another Chess site. I am dedicated Clan member and posting on this site. Granted I may go over the line and post too much at times, but I have fun. Limiting me to 10 posts in a 24 hr. period wouldn't work for me personally.

@great-big-stees saidg-b-s....How does anyone stop something that has went on for years, and people seem to enjoy? You can always steer a thread in a different way as I've seen you do countless times. All of a sudden people are talking about something else. ( I never agreed with the "OFF TOPIC" as one of the rules, but have to live with it, not that it is enforced much)
In the GF? Probably less "debating".
😲 😀
I am probably more guilty than anyone or maybe I should say most of 'debating' in the GF. Have you noticed how long the threads are where there are conflicts. You have to have a difference of opinion to have a debate. That is what we have the Moderators for to make sure it doesn't get out of hand. I've had more than one post removed probably 3 alone in this one thread, but people keep coming back to see what is being said.............Oh and I am still here and posting. Would you sooner have a forum without posters who disagree? How dead would things get real fast if everyone agreed on everything? Or if you say something I don't care for I can remove it? Not very appealing is it?
