A few weeks ago, I boldly predicted that the Tigers, "the best team in Baseball [PFFT!]"would start failing apart as they entered the stretch with a tough schedule. I foresaw that the Tigers would go a mere 8-15 over the their next 23 games. I was scoffed at by the "experts" here.
We are now 10 games into this period and the Tigers are 3-7. Their lead has been steadily shrinking esp. to the Twins who I have predicted will pass them despite trailing at one point by almost 30 games (or something like that). Down to a mere 7 games in the loss column now.
Thus, I feel a special thread is in order for all RHP to follow the Tigers down the elevator shaft they are plunging. Those with particulary compelling Tiger excuses are welcome to post here if they can take the mockery sure to be heaped on them.
Originally posted by no1marauderOur hitting has been pretty weak lately. We're having a tough time driving runs in. Monroe led off the 9th with a triple today, in a 2-1 game, and was stranded there. Pathetic. Polanco going on the DL is a big blow too.

But it was unrealistic to expect the Tigers to go through the whole season without hitting a rough patch. Fortunately, we have enough of a lead that we can ride it out without too much worry until we start to recover. We've still got a 6.5 game lead. The White Sox and Twins have to play well enough to overcome that, which they don't seem to be able to do.
Originally posted by no1marauderAnother pathetic game. Texas is held to two hits, but wins. Maybe we should have gotten Soriano when we had the chance.
Tiger Collapse Watch reports that our hapless heroes lost 3-1 to the Rangers tonight. The "Best Team in Baseball [PFFT!]" was mowed down by Robinson Tejada, who came into the game with a record of 1-3 and an ERA of 9.78. The Tigers stand at 3-8 in the "Era of Collapse" and sinking rapidly.
But the pitching continues to be very good. With a 5.5 game lead remaining we're bound to snap out of it eventually.
Originally posted by rwingettActually, I think it was very good. Seeing that I live so close to the Ameriquest Stadium. But you are right the Rangers usually score more points. I wish we knew what pitching was.

The daily update from Tiger Collapse Watch:
The "Best Team in Baseball [PFFT!]" lost again to the Rangers, 7-6. That leaves them at 3-9 in the Era of Collapse. The Rangers go for a 4 game sweep tomorrow; the brain trust at TCW is divided as to whether the PussyCats will actually win one game in the series or if our orginal prediction of a 8-15 run was overrating them.
Twins won and moved closer to the crumbling BTB [P].
We here at Tiger Collapse Watch made a slight error yesterday; the Ranger-Tiger series had concluded with the Rangers winning 3 of 4 against the "Best Team in Baseball[PFFT!]".
And lo and behold; the Tigers actually won a game today! Kudos to them; they improved to 4-9 in the Era of Collapse. Three games left with the White Sox; the TCW braintrust expects the ChiSox to take at least 2 of the next 3 - starting tomorrow with Kenny "WalkAGuyWithThe BasesLoadedToLoseAPennant" Rogers certain to get shelled.
