As most are undoubtedly aware, the Yanks spanked the "Best Team in Baseball[PFFT!]" by a misleading 6-4 final. That ends the August portion of the Era of Collapse with the Tigers finishing a dismal 7-15 in accord with the TCW braintrust prediction. Their lead is down to only 4 in the loss column over both the White Sox and the Twins and they have one series left with each on the road. The Twins didn't help themselves though by losing two out of three to the Royals and now have to face the Yankees. If they don't lose any ground this weekend, they should still be in a good position to pass the BTB[P!] by the middle of September as predicted.
A BIG series in Boston this weekend; will both the Blue Jays and the Red Sux lose?
Originally posted by no1marauderBah, at least we made a game of it in the end. In case you hadn't noticed, we're no longer the 'best team in baseball'. The Mets (NY's best team) passed us up in that regard. We finished August 13-16, but neither the White Sox nor the Twins has shown they've got what it takes to catch us. Our lead is .5 games less than I said it would be.

Check will be on it's way shortly. :'(

You've blown half your lead in three weeks and you still have to play in Chicago and Minnesota. At the very least, the Era of Collapse has turned a expected cakewalk into a tight race.
Originally posted by no1marauderSo the Yankees giveth and the Yankees taketh away. The Yankees beat Minnesota and KC beats the White Sox (barely) to increase our lead back to 5.5 games. With only 27 games left, it's going to get tougher and tougher for anyone to pass us.

Rogers pitches another gem. Seven shutout innings to put him at 15-6.

Like most Yankee fans I normally only have three questions about the Tigers:
Do people really live in Detroit?
Are they in the AL or the NL?
Who cares, when do the World Series tickets go on sale?
BUT Holy Al Kaline, I have to say, this thread is turning me into a Tiger Fan!!
Those houses that you go by down there, they look abandoned, with tall grass in the yard and the broken down car out front.
But yes, there are humans living in those houses, sad as it may be.
Just a word of warning:
When you are getting out of your car in front of Harpos on a Saturday night. There will be a black guy come up to you and ask to watch your car for a little cash, while you are inside.
Make sure to give him a little cash. Then you can be pretty sure your car will still be there when you come back out.
If you don't give him the cash, you can be pretty sure your car will not be there.
😞

The Tigers are an inaugural member of the AL (1901). Unlike the Yankees. In 1901 and 1902, the Yankees were the original Baltimore Orioles. They moved in 1903 and became the New York Highlanders. They didn't actually become the Yankees until 1913.
I think there's a lot of people around the country who are rooting for the Tigers.
