Ouch. 6-0 lead blown with a chance to win the division against a crap team. That's gotta hurt.

Still, it's all even and all the rest of the cliches now. Get some decent pitching and who knows?
If Kansas could play every game like they are playing Sox, Yanks, Tigers etc they would have 102 wins. What is up with that suck team?

Please don't remind me. I have Chad Johnson in my fantasy league (my "real" one, not the RHP one).

We are naught but lambs for the slaughter now. It will take more than two days to remove the odiferous stench of that Kansas City series from our collective psyches. We wander, forsaken, down the barren length of Woodward Ave., our lamentations filling the air, as we rend our garments and beat our breats, vainly seeking absolution. Reduced to the ignominy of the wildcard hell, we are lost and without hope. Take pity, Mr. Steinbrenner, and may the end be merciful.

Its ok, at least the Tigers held on for the playoffs. The Phillies missed the playoffs because the stupid umpire said Utleys homerun in Washington was foul. It smacked right off the pole!

A few weeks ago, I boldly predicted that the Tigers, "the best team in Baseball [PFFT!]"would start failing apart as they entered the stretch with a tough schedule. I foresaw that the Tigers would go a mere 8-15 over the their next 23 games. I was scoffed at by the "experts" here.

We are now 10 games into this period and the Tigers are 3-7. T ...[text shortened]... ger excuses are welcome to post here if they can take the mockery sure to be heaped on them.
Wow. Last week it looked like you had the keenest sports mind that ever existed. This is posted 20 minutes after the Tigers have dusted off the most hated team on the planet with the exception of the greater NY-NJ area, and of course, the wealthier parts of Florida. This thread was as good an example as one can have in life of the extremely fine line between being the hero, or the goat.😵😵

No guts, no glory. A short series can make you look bad even when you've been right for two months.😞

Torri didn't feel the same way, if you read my post or listened to Torri this evening about a short series.

Typical Yank fan making excuses.

What excuse??? When I started this thread the Tigers were 10 games up and everybody was picking them to clinch by the middle of September.

The Tigers beat the Yanks in the series after they lost their division. Them's the facts.

Sorry, I wasn't thinking of the Kansas series when you posted this. I really don't see why this is even an issue now, since they took one in NY and finished them off in front of their own fans.

Also, wildcard teams have been doing well of late I believe.

Yes, teams that finish behind other teams have been doing great in the post-season. In my own mind, the fact that they can't finish ahead of other teams through 162 games tarnishes their acheivements in the playoffs.
