Has anyone mentioned Ghostbusters yet? I found it was a good movie, but not a great; as Clockwork Orange/other Kubrick works. 2001 was crap...it took too long, at I just didn't like it.

2001 is not a movie, it's more like a work of art, because it doesn't include a real story or really bother following a plot-line. In fact, it could have easily just not contained any dialogue at all, since nothing any of the characters have to say really has anything to do with the "story" because again nothing much happens. I think Kubrick's main goal was to stretch our imaginations and fascinate us, and that's exactly what he did for many people who love the movie. If you've been watching action sci-fi flicks like Star Wars your whole life and hold every "space" movie in comparison to that, then I'm sure you were going crazy watching this one. But for me, I can never take my eyes off the screen!!! 😉

That's a good point, I can't remember a single line of dialogue from 2001, except from hal, now that you mention it. As art it is a fantastic movie. Most dialogue is used in movies to help direct the chain of thought, I think kubrick freed us from that in 2001.

I enjoyed Secrets and Lies too. Not at all a top 10 film by any means but a good film nonetheless.

Never heard of that; who directed it, and what's it about?

Passion of The Christ... this should really spark a few arguments, lol. I was absolutely stunned by this movie. It's the only time in my movie-going life that I've had to turn away from the screen in fear/disgust, except for when I watched Bio-Dome. 😉

This movie is very powerful and I really hope you all see it at some point in your lives, even if you don't believe in God.

It was bitchin' at the end when Christ realized he had survived being crucified and being entombed alive, and he stood up like the Terminator and walked out to kill some Romans. I can't wait til the sequel, Revenge of the Christ!

You let me down, bbarr. I thought you were going to go on a rant about how much you hated the movie and spark a nice heated argument between us, philopsophy major against film school dropout. 🙁

Nonetheless, funny post.

Gawd, PotC? Good film, but...not great.

Did anyone see the recent South Park episode about Cartman setting up a Mel Gibson fan club that, eventually, ends up like Nazi Germany?

I did. No matter how immature South Park can be sometimes, it's VERY creative now and then, and that episode was just hilarious. Nonetheless though, The Passion of The Christ again was a very powerful movie and I just can't quite understand anyone's reasoning for not liking it. It's very simple to understand and contains shots that look so good they almost look animated. I haven't enjoyed a lot of Gibson's work up until now but he has definitely rebounded his career with this film.

So your favourite film is watching the entire Terminator trilogy out of order? Okay, to each their own I guess.

What good Christian movies have come out lately? I saw an ad a while back for one with Kirk Cameron as the protaganist. I believe it was an action-adventure based on the rapture and tribulations prophesized in the Book of Revelations. I'm not too sure but I think the premise is that KC plays a sinful paramilitant left behind by Jesus to fight the Anti-Christ with a hot dame on his arm or something to that effect. Do you think his character drew a lot from his role as the ultra-sassy Mike Seaver?
