People who download music have better musical tastes I have found.
That is because it ALLOWS them to refine exactly what is good for them, etc.
You can't possibly do that buying CDs. Unless you're a milionaire and don't care about the cost.
But for most middle class and under folks, piracy is the captain of those wild internet oceans.
Regardless, I don't think it justifies stealing.
I don't tend to download dvds, i just rent them and rip them, at least the dvd producers get the rent money then. Is this stealing? Probably, who cares anyway... I still go to the cinema and if i like something I'll probably buy it anyway for the extra features and stuff.
The only stuff I tend to download are T.V. shows that are on in the states which you 'might' get to buy a dvd release of about a year later in the U.K. It sucks; so I download it. The shows already made millions, the cast have been paid already, the T.V stations have already shown their adverts in the U.S. and people watching it on downloaded copy help build up a buzz in other countries that probably help increase DVD sales in the long run anyway.
Is it stealing if it is on terrestrial t.v in another country?

jlilly talks absolute balderdash.
Whether you consider it to be stealing or not is irrelevant - tell that to the judge LMAO.

The intelligent thing to do is route your torrent traffic through a overseas VPN.
If you don't have the money for such a service you can always leech off open wireless signals like I do. That way if you're ever caught downloading it doesn't come back to you. Good luck!
Unlike you. 😛

Does it have to be so black and white?
Downloading music isn't really stealing. You're copying data.
It's not fair that the only "work" is that first theoretical CD. Then THEY DUPLICATE THEIR WORK FOR NOTHING, IN NO TIME AT ALL.
It's not like a carpenter who has to spend hours again making another chair.
Somebody creates something unique, they own it. If they want to sell it for $20000 per CD that's what you have to pay or just keep your filthy paws off that product.
People try to justify their theft in all kinds of ways, they steal it because it's easy, they only steal music that they're going to buy later like taking a test drive or they only steal stuff they wouldn't have bought so it's no lose, or they steal it because everyone else is stealing it, or they steal it because they think someone else might be making too much money. Your writhings in this thread have been an example, do yourself and the rightful owners a favour, either pay the set price or delete it, you'll feel better for it I guarantee it.
