A global humanist? I remember reading an argument that there wouldn't be a genuinely transcendent notion of global citizenry until the existence of extra-terrestrial life was discovered. The argument runs that since the self is constructed dialogically then there must always be the 'other' component.
I am currently researching alternatives to the nation ...[text shortened]... admire your lucidity Nordlys, though as my posts show I can't replicate your succintness.

Then wallow in your welsh valleys with your sheep you blithering.........
Jay Joos you are being a spoilt English brat. Why do you take it so personally? There was no offence in Air Brenin Cymru post, he simply says he didn’t like the idea of the British Union yet you have come back with a derogatory remark. There are plenty of countries and colonies of the British Empire that over the last century have expressed a wish not to be part of it any more. If we wish not to be a part of Britain then what is the problem? We have a national identity, we have our own language and a history going back thousands of years with traditions that still exist in some form these days, and that goes for the Welsh, Scottish and Irish.
If we want to be our own separate Celtic country then do something you English have failed to do for the past 300 years or so and leave us be, and stop whinging about it.

I dont claim to be clever but i am loyal like you and i found the original post offensive...
Calling someone a English Brat hardly seems mature either so i say to you.... grow up,roll your neck back in and go away...

Secondly, what truth would that be exactly?
As you failed once again to answer the question I asked in my first post, then I shall explain in more simple terms, as you indeed seem to be having trouble grasping it, the paradox in which you face, and have created for yourself.
You seemed very offended when air brenin cymru said he dislike the idea of Britain. You then post a derogatory remark about Wales, and in posts since have shown that you hold no respect for the country or it’s people. The point of my post was to ask why you had been so offended when we convey a wish to be independent. If you do not care for Wales and have no respect for it then why the big song, dance and crying when we no longer want to be part of Britain, if we are that low in your estimations surly you should be happy to get rid of us?

Original post said he disliked more than Britain, that was an offence to me who is patriotic....
Fair point if he had just said Britain i would have left it...but he didn't.
To tell you the truth i dont mind Wales at all...i have visited North Wales and found it to be very relaxing and invigorating....
If you dont want to be a part of us then oh well its your loss....BUT i respect that you want to be independent....i dont want rid of you...
As i said....i found Original post to be insulting the Queen and i dont like that thats all that got up my back....
I was not acting as a brat...i was reacting....and you took offence to that because i have gathered you are fiercely loyal too.....
Have we said enough yet or do you want to talk some more?

Quick question first, Air Brenin Cymru quote “I hate the idea of the British empire, the queen, the flag and everything about it”.
I’m no expert but I think, I think, he has just expressed a hatred of the British empire and the queen, the flag etc… just like he may or may not express a hatred for any institution. I’m not sure but I don't think someone expressing their human right to hate something qualifies as an offensive remark?
If that be the case, second quick question, why the derogatory retort if you do have some respect for Wales?
Originally posted by 1WhiteKnightFirst question: Yes he has a right to express hatred as i have a right to retort...i found it personally to be offensive as i am patriotic to the Queen... so i told him in a brash way to leave it!

Second Question: I retorted in such a manner because i was upset, hot headed i become when i feel insulted... for that i retract that retort and i apologise to you,Original post and all who are welsh...perhaps i should have said" Fair point...your loss!"
I dont have some respect for Wales i have a lot of respect...
