"The Floating Brothel" by Sian Rees. Historic account of the voyage of "Breeding women" packed off to the colonies for committing such heinous crimes as stealing their mistresses drapes.

A fascinating insight for any history buffs out there.

I am right now reading a sci fi series from Eric Brown, "Weird space", Devils Nebula, Satan's reach, and the third, The Baba Yaga. The first two were written by Brown, the third by Brown and his daughter Una McCormack.

Baba Yaga is a slavic witch tale:
