Does you theory only work on murderers, or is it equally effective on wife beaters? Should all sentences be lower in order to reduce other crimes also. And why not just do away with all punishment maybe my wife will stop beating me.

My God, all this time and you still don't understand that this is not about reducing sentences it's about NOT KILLING PEOPLE.

If society accepted corporal punishment was a legitimate form of punishment, then there would be more wife beaters. It's clear as day.
