You just don't get it Hand. I didn't either until this morning when i tried this experiment. I went to the local ice cream joint with a known murderer. I told the murderer to take this old farts ice cream cone, eat it and then kill the old fart. The murderer ate the ice cream and was about to decapitate the old fart when i stepped in and said, "there is no capital punishment for murder in this state". The murderer said, "what? then i refuse to kill this old fart" and thus another crime was prevented. Paly is right !

It always find it amazing how often people refuse to face reality when it contradicts their views.

You live in a world of prejudiced views and violence. I pity you.

Canada isn't gunless. They just have more rigid laws. It isn't terribly hard to own a gun in Canada, but, you do have to follow the rules. Big deal, I don't have a problem with rules.
no were is completely gun-less (probably) i was just making a point that when you have strict anti-gun laws you have less gun crime not enhanced personal safety. how many times does a kid have to randomly shot his fellow students at his school with daddies gun before people see that?

You still haven't explained WHY, when there's no death penalty, crimes go down. Shove you're manipulated stats and try to express it with words. Any who, i won't be killing any one soon because i won't be given the death penalty. GOOGOOGAAGAAGOO !!!!!

3 MILLION times per year in the US a law abiding citizen protects himself with a gun saving who knows how many lives of family and children. You go tell the non law abiding thugs to turn their guns in. You judge everyone with a gun to be a criminal.

would you consider it ok to kill someone who breaks into your home unarmed?

Yes, i would consider it IF he did not retreat when i told him to or he came at me even though i had a gun on him. Otherwise i would allow him to flee as i called 911. The state i live in is a Castle state, meaning that i'm king of my castle,No one is allowed in my home without my permission. I may legally shoot to kill any intruder even it the intruder is unarmed. Now you will ask me, "what if it were a member of your family coming home late at night?" There are simple solutions for this scenario which i'm to lazy to comment on at the moment. However, i have been an NRA instructor for almost 25 yr. and help in the teaching of home protection and the laws concerning lethal force at a local gun range. Price: 125.00/8hr.

In 100 years people will look back at the way our societies treat criminals with something like the disbelief with which we contemplate slavery.

Most if not all the people who commit serious violent crimes have major mental health problems (even if we don't have a name or a pill for them all yet) and should be treated and pitied rather than put down like animals.

Has anyone who approves of the death penalty seen the movie Deadline? I cannot understand how anyone who knows even a little about how the US death penalty system works in practice could possible be in favour of it.

Agreed, the notion that killing is a suitable punishment for killing is so stoneage retarded that I find it astounding it is still in effect. It's nothing more than neanderthal bloodlust. We as a society should aim at eradicating violence in any form, not justifying it for certain purposes.

The problem I have is reconciling the difference in the various US states on capital punishment, where clearly the death penalty is not a deterrent to killing. The convicted get some 10-15 years on death row, to run out all their appeals, and then the sentence is either commuted to life or they get the injection.

That's really bad given we don't subject animals to that. I don't have any answers but 'an eye for an eye' just doesn't seem to work.

Stop agreeing with me. It's uncomfortable.
