"A casual internet forum where new and old friends gather to swap a few thoughts and laughs at no one's expense.
Note: Tries to capture the spirit of a relaxed place and refreshing experience. Best I've got so far. Need your ideas?"

rld I'd want to cause. I owe much to Russ & Chris."

On diversity:

“I think... if it is true that
there are as many minds as there
are heads, then there are as many
kinds of love as there are hearts.”

Question: Will there be an expectation that we will play chess with club members?

Gotta hand it to you, Bobby.. it's brilliant! The perfect forum!

Your devoted followers get to hang out exclusively with their favorite raconteur
(that's you!) and you preside over a private club peopled exclusively by trusted
friends (13 and counting) and none of your many detractors.

It's a narcissist's dream...

Club Ratings: "All club members have an additional rating - their club rating. Any rated game completed against another member of the same club will change your club rating. Your club ratings are in addition to your site rating."

Joining a Club: "Do not hesitate to request membership to a club if you would like to participate - your normal Red Hot Pawn experience will remain unaffected. Both subs and non-subs can join a club. Club membership is only limited by the club administrator who accepts or declines club membership requests."

Creating a Club"Although anyone can join a club, only subscribers can create one. If you do create a club, please remember that only clubs with at least 10 members will have an active club rating." (page 4)
(Please see "Community: Clubs" at the bottom of this page)

> "Will there be an expectation that we will play chess with club members?" (JS357)

Unlike most RHP Private Clubs, the purpose of ours will be to provide a quality forum experience. Primary appeal of many other clubs is the emphasis on tournaments and the ranking of member chess ratings. Games between our members will be optional. It's quite possible new chess opponent friendships will be cultivated between previous strangers. -Bob

Hi, Andy. All Red Hot Pawn Members in good standing are (and will continue to be) invited. No exceptions. A global mix of Friends, Almost Friends, Loyal Opposition & Personal Detractors will insure a lively forum 24/365. "Our" Forum, not gb's.

I do not have a problem with the club leader.
I merely pointed out that the club leader said
that the person who I believe offended me
has nothing to apologize for. That is all.
I am not complaining about the club or its leader.
It's a good club with a good leader and also is
populated by very good people. Some of whom
are posting here in this forum.

Your assertion that I am out to cause trouble is wrong.
I avoid trouble, which is why I am rarely there now.
As for cancelling membership, I will leave it up to Kewpie
if she wants rid of me. It is her right and prerogative to
delete me or block me or whatever action she chooses
to exercise.

I have done nothing wrong. I will gladly return and make
interesting posts on various subjects. One subject at the
moment is very contentious right now here in Ireland.
Abortion.

Tomorrow there is a vote on abortion in our parliament.
It is a bill which allows for abortion in certain limited circumstances.
It has exercised a lot of people and the Government are going to
lose members because these members are going to vote against
the Government bill.

Doesn't the proposed Irish law only apply to abortions necessary to save the mother's life? This
option is available in the U.S. and just about everywhere else, I believe. Is it a church issue?

Quite to the contrary. There were a half dozen high profile, prolific forum posters who contributed wit and an energy level I miss. These people were comfortable in their own skin and unafraid to be themselves. None were nitpicky cowards. -Bob

you really really REALLY enjoy the term "relaxed" when you describe the conversations you enjoy...

i don't...
i have yet to see a functional bridge built without any sort of dynamic tension...
humans REQUIRE the same, or they will die...

you've indicated you want only those who would eternally respect any others opinion (without reservation?!?)...

i'll not limit myself in this regard...

i had a hearty chuckle at yer statement, "No club exists or is listed on this site until its prospective "Admin" decides there's sufficient interest to justify the initial effort and longer term responsibility. Last count we have 13 bona fide members..."

i find that a club that does not exist and yet has 13 bona fide members is quite the oxymoron...
HA!!!

you want to assure folks that they'll not be offended!!!

goodness, while yer at it, will you also tackle that nagging world hunger issue???
HA!!!

camelot...
HA!!!
nirvana...
HA!!!
utopia...
HA!!!
heaven...
HA!!!

enjoy yer little enclave, sir, however i do not recommend drinking the cherry koolade...

i pass on the invite...
