Kramknik stated a while ago he wanted to win Corus this year ... we'll see about that. He will certainly be reminded of this by some journalist.

Yep, a proud one.

Oh what a drawlsen, what a drawchuk. DISGUSTING
most of those draws no doubt came from playing against kramnik. 😛

(drawsen really did have a long curse of draws last year though, it only changed towards the end of the year.)

I'm particularly interested in how the Dutch GM Anish Giri, the Dutch champion who is 15 years old, will perform in this tournament. He plays in GM group B.

Well, I'm particularly interested in the Ukrainian IM Anna Muzychuk, who is 20 years old, for reasons completely unknown.

I'd have to say one of these reasons might be she was born some over 20 years ago...

yeah, who would've thought of that?

lots of nice decisive games today. and is dominguez really winning anand? looks nasty, but is there really any progress to be made? maybe not. anand sure hasn't been worrying much, pretty much blitzing through it so far.

aaand they just agreed to a draw. 🙂

understandable... although, even in her 30's Almira Skripchenko seems to steal quite
a bit of my attention whenever in the spotlight.

And what a great game he played in round 4:

I don't like White's position at all after move 31, the way he went on to win seems a bit like chess hustling to me. Probably they just calculated it all out though 😉

Strange to think that a Grandmaster with a rating of 2650+ can be hustled!

Black's position just looks so defendable after 31 moves. The two bishops are like two guard dogs and any of Black's major pieces can swing in to help defend if necessary. White's rook on c1 is useless and he's a piece down, and yet six moves later, it's all over.

Maybe 31. ... Bxd4 was wrong? It gave White a lot of tactics on the d-file.

Nigel Short's comments after managing a draw against Carlsen:

“It was an interesting game,” Short told reporters, “I had absolutely no idea what was going on. The thing was I suspected he would play the Scottish against an Englishman, so I decided to play the Scandinavian against a Norwegian.” Asked if he was satisfied with his half point against the Norwegian boy wonder, Short reacted: “Satisfied? Why should I be satisfied with a draw against a kid? I’m a grandmaster with 25 years of experience!”
