Dumping the Sicillian

Only Chess

I dunno, the sicillian just doesn't seem to work anymore, its more of the defensive type of position these days.

I think I should switch to 1. e4 e5 rather.

I might be wrong though.

Whats your thoughts on the sicillian?

Maybe I should consider studying it further before going with e5...?

Im talking just about all of them, ive seen games that just go into passivity, and I cant play like that.

It's rare that someone takes the initiative from the sicillian, atleast from my point of view, im hoping someone can prove me wrong though.

Dragon, Najdorf, Classical, Sveshnikov.

You're wrong.

I personally don't like the Sicilian and I don't play 1.e4 alot in tournament games (not on site). 😠 As black I play the Latvian Gambit after 2.Nf3 and sometimes I play the Alekhine Defense (1.e4 Nf6). I will very rarely play 2.Nc6 after 2.Nf3 because I really don't like the Ruy Lopez. 😠

I just won a Sicilian game in 10 moves as black; it was pretty active. 😉

I love the sicillian, when I started using it I was completly dominating with it. Just recently I feel restricted when playing it.

Im probably just doing something wrong.

I will look into this, thanks guys, for backing it up.

Mind posting your game exigentsky?

I just switched to the Sicilian, and I must say I think you are wrong. It is a highly active opening with great counter-play. Actually it is not "a" highly active opening, it is a myriad of different defenses (or should I say counter-attacks?), so if you get tired of one you can always switch, with the main ideas being the same. 1.e4 e5 on the other hand, is something I found rather passive as the aim is mostly just to neutralise white's advantage, building up no imbalances for yourself.
