There is nothing solid in the bit which decides which move to choose yet. I'm hoping to create an engine which plays like a weak human, so it won't look that far ahead but will recognise pins, isolated pawns, strong centres and other things which human players look for.
Didn't someone achieve that on the Spectrum.

It would be much easier for you to buy one of the ChessMaster series. They all allow you to create opponents of various strength. I've had to study some of the games produced by these engines and it's amazing how well they stand out even when programmed to be different.

Goes back to my original theory that there is no such thing as randomness. If you follow that idea then all you have to do is look for the relative features in the games analyzed and then you can tweak ChessMaster's multiple personality list until you find one that matches the game played by it. Once you do this all the games played with those settings will match.

My son has Chess Master 10 and I'm not really very impressed by the alleged different playing styles.

Yes...the so-called different personality styles just weaken the program and make it play a bit strangely. They certainly don't mimic any of the great names they've borrowed.

are the built in training sections of CM10 worth it for the price?

How do you catch these guys? Or even prove it? Is it how they move that "looks like computer". I am a novice, so I don't think I would notice anything.

I highly suspect that ImmortalWeyerstrass is just another account that the user of recently banned immortaltrinity is back and created another account. I think this because they were banned for creating another account. Here's a message Korch posted in the forums with immortaltrinity:

"From: Immortalradion

Subject: Help, I lost my account due to a complete misconception

Hey Korch, I know your a good dude. I lost my account because they said I had "mulptiple accounts," when I made an account for my cousin at my house so he could try to play for himself. He only made 5 moves before he got bored and he never touched it again. And im getting penalized for this, what should i do?"

Me: Use option "Send feedback"

Immortalradion: i did, aNd they gave me an initial response saying that i had multiple accounts, but then i msged them back email and feed back (both) and havent gotten a reply in about 4 hours. They also kicked me of RHP (completely banned, as i cannot enter the site).

Me: Then I have no idea how can I help you.

Immortalradion: you konw me, i was immortaltrinity

Me: I dont know you at all. but seems like you got what you deserved.

Immortalradion: hey korch F*** U

Then the accounts of KorchJuggernaut and Immortalradion were both created on July 9 and both accounts were terminated the next day. Now the account of ImmortalWeyerstrass has been created on July 11, the day after the previous accounts were created and those accounts were created after immortaltrinity and brainpower50000 were both terminated on that same day. I also think it's the same user because the usernames look very similar to each other. In addition because they have the same country in their profile as before.

Look at this part of their profile: Openings: Sicilian (Najdorf, Dragon), Ruy Lopez, Grob Attack, Grunfeld, just like immortaltrinity's before that profile was erased.

The post that was quoted here has been removed
In that case the admins should style up and add a separate section for padding etc. It is misleading to refer to 3(b) when the user was padding or another offense.

No user has ever been removed for padding, and you still don't know what it means, do you?
