Ironically my record against GauravV is 1 win 1 draw and 13 losses, of which were in some very important late rounds in tournies. I have been talking to G for a while, and he gave no recognition that he was an engine, and the game i won, was my first game against him, since i cant get past the first 30 moves. Its really disspointing because he is part of my clan, and has discredited FHL. Sucks really...as for Stroub, i believe we played twice a month ago, and this person destroyed me no contest...when i asked him about his playing strength, and apologized for my own horrible play he said he was happy to play such a strong player that played at the same speed as him. He pretty much moved twice as fast as me, and at least twice as strong, which made me laugh because he complimented me, when easily anyone could see i wasnt even close to his league...

It's a shame that cheaters infiltrate clans. I see that your clan beat us out in the rankings by only 10 points.

I do however find it funny that all the cheaters seem to find their way into Smiffy's clan.

how long has Myrthir been suspected? I noticed someone made an implication in another thread back when no on would take his open invite that stayed up for weeks.

any thought on why the cheats seem to be banned all at the same time?

Russ has been away on holiday and recently got back if I remember correctly. And they tend to be done in batches anyway.

I have played none of these banned players so have no views on whether their play seems strange. It is always easier I feel to get a feel for a game and what someones mindset is whilst you are actually playing it.

I assume in the interests of justice the evidence is placed before the players before they are banned and they are given a chance to justify their play and I must admit a few of the things I have read here are supicious as I generally find strong players always tend to be happy to discuss a game and help you improve and no matter what their language can do so in a sensible and logical fashion. It doesn't matter if their reasoning is flawed as we all make mistakes - its the process that counts.

I had a quick look at the profiles of the top few players on the site, and I must say that most of them don't post at all, and none posted anything useful!

There was a strange thread from 2003 about Akizy and his use of computer engines - did this used to be allowed on this site?

No. But there was no enforcement of this rule until early 2005 when the game mods were established. At this point every member on the site had to acknowledge their awareness and compliance of the TOS, especially as it relates to engine use.

We react on complaints received and do not investigate every player on the site. Complaints, however, should be supported with good reasoning and /or evidence.

We were shocked to see that again one of our members was removed from this site for cheating accusations.

And let us make one thing sure: The S.P.S.-Clan doesn't support the usage of any engines or other unallowed help!!!!

btw I find it funny that you also was a member. 😛
Even if it was for only 30 minutes. 😀

Should not these "victories" be defaulted retrospectively to the losing side and the scores adjusted.

If both sides have cheated it should be scored a draw.

Edit: I see User 209844 was also banned but he was playing at a far lower level (only 1900s)

One of his losses was against Stroubidoul - Game 2511962. I proclaim Stroubidoul to be the Computer Engine Champion of Red Hot Pawn!

I still don't understand something here. I chose the following game because it was played OTB, the opening was not “book”, and it was long. I let Fritz analyze my moves at 10 sec. with the threshold set at .25. Fritz made suggestions on 11 of my moves (no "?" or any gross blunders). Does that mean I matched 85 percent of the time? Somebody please clarify this for me.
