Little by little Weyerstrass is overhauling Akizy. His rating is so high that he only gained three points for beating me and just one for beating najdorfslayer (rated 2045 or so). He just needs to brush aside a few more gnats like us and he will gain the #1 spot, I reckon he'll make it next week sometime.

Only 3 points for beating you? That's harsh. However it should serve as a lesson to those who ask why there are no 2700+ players on this site...

Edit: How badly does a draw with you hurt his rating?

From the FAQ:
New Rating = Old Rating + K * (Score - Win Expectancy)
K is a constant (32 for 0-2099, 24 for 2100-2399, 16 for 2400 and above)
Score is 1 for a win, 0.5 for a draw and 0 for a loss.
The Win Expectancy is calculated using the following formula :
Win Expectancy = 1 / (10^((OpponentRating-YourRating)/400)+1)
-------------
Plugging in the 2 players' current numbers:
W's Win Expectancy = 1/(10^((2117-2454)/400)+1)
= 0.87434
Rating change = 16 * (0.5 - 0.87434)
= -5.9895
So W would lose 6 points for a draw.

he has a game against seadevil though, and he is only 14 points above seadevil so he ought to easily surpass 2470 if he wins

edit- make that two against seadevil and two against stephane

I'm trying to figure out what is interfering with a 10 minute timer on a Windows Mobile System. Unfortunately, that involves plenty of 3-4 minute intervals of boredom.

There are firefox plugins for this site which give you the same info, but only for your own games unfortunately.

I can't even understand games at that high of a level. For instance, in Game 2580858 why would white simply not take the bishop on move 19?
