and that the act itself is the emanation of our desire whereas our act took this path or the other or the other and so on

But I wasn't answering The Question!
I was explaining why, in my view, your relabeling it from brain process to desire doesn't help to answer it. In your previous post, I assumed you were implying that if it is in the brain it's not cultural.

I can't answer for you, obviously. I'd like to know. Sexuality is an important facet of our lives, so I think understanding it can only be a good thing.

I know epi is a Christian, but I don't know his position on homosexuality nor his motives for asking this.
Regardless, I think that the fact he wants to look at evidence is by itself a positive step. I don't presume to know what implications he will draw from that evidence.
If you're implying he wants to attack homosexuality, I honestly don't see how it being cultural or genetic makes any difference.
