Originally posted by luctrucI don't understand how clubs would kill clans. Clans are and will be teams, where a club is a community who play together. I don't believe there is a function for 2 clubs to play each other in an organized challenge.
No limit to the number of clubs you can join. This will indeed be the end of the clans, and, soon enough, the end of the site.
Are you going to quit your clan because of clubs? They are 2 different things.

Still don't see the added value..
EDIT: and I do agree with luctruc: introducing clubs feels as something 'too much'.. splitting up the community.. would have been better to introduce improvements to the clan-system rather than have something next to it..
Now if you see all the people you like are no longer playing public much, you might consider joining the club they are in.

Some people don't seem to understand how clubs will work. They should read the first post by Russ. CLUBS ARE DIFFERENT TO CLANS. Clans play against other clans whereas club members play members inside their own club.
For Amsterdam, ADDED VALUES
ADDED VALUE #1 - Non-subs can join clubs. This will make things more interesting and encourage others to join.
ADDED VALUE #2 - You can create mini competitions. Im assuming that each club will have its own ladder and ranking system similar to the player tables.
For example, countries can now have their own national competition if they wish. Or there could be clubs for different age groups (i see there is an 'under 20' club already) and there could be a seniors club if somone wanted to start one.
ADDED VELUE#3 It will become easier for these smaller communities to monitor and dispose of cheats. If you suspect someone you will be able to give them the boot without going through the moderation process. This is why it is important to have an active and experiecned club admin.
This is a great feature and im looking forward to when it is up and running fully.
Thanks Russ
EDIT - and as Phlabibit mentioned, you do not have to join a club if you don't want.
ALLEGED VALUE #1 - That's swell. Non-paying members will now enjoy all the benefits of clan membership. With 50+ members, even team play is possible -- shirts and skins. Half a club is still bigger than a clan.
ALLEGED VALUE #2 - Why not add ladders as a clan feature? There are already clans organized according to special interests. Just scroll throught the whole list -- clans for countries, clans for openings, clans for professions. Is there a chocolate lovers' clan?
ALLEGED VALUE #3 - I sure hope this isn't the intent behind this project. Can you imagine a daily cludi-style upset?

Can we have it so it shows who the "lead admin" is at the top - maybe on the left so we don't have to scroll through to see who it is. It has a bearing on which clubs people will join.
I mean, no way am I joining a club with that eejit as the admin. 😀
