1. Having two separate divisions of the clan set up. One section would be for the larger clans who want to knock heads and get after it against each other. The second division would be for those clans who were smaller in size, or not really wanting to compete as robustly as needed in the larger division.
2. A clan league with 5-player teams: U1200 U1400 U1600 U1800 U2000 using the 5 Years rating. Once the clan league starts for the season, your rating can go anywhere - but next season the player would have to be in a different chair if they crossed a ratings threshold ...
3. A Cup Competition of some sort - either a longer 800-1200 games or a straight knockout cup.

Sorry I never move in our game, I learned that from trev.
The second idea is more of a revival of the Clan Leagues. But just one league. One league any clan can join. Or maybe a clan can have more than one entry.

5 players - one on each board like in high school (here in the States anyway).
Board 1 is U2000 - any player in the clan can be Board 1 as long as their 5-year rating is under 2000.
Board 2 is U1800 - the player has to be 5-year under 1800.
Board 3 is U1600
Board 4 is U1400
Board 5 is U1200
A player like me (1600-1700) can still play Board 1 and take a beating for the team, or maybe Board 2 and try to nick a few draws.
I don't think the clan leagues are worth reviving.
They struggled back in the day when there were more clans.
I think Fred mentioned non mandatory cross division play for the proposed 2 divisions.I don't see why not.
What about promotion and relegation?
Would that be added incentive?
I can't imagine the reaction of some of the high scoring clans if they found themselves in division 2 for a year!

If you go through the clans many are very tiny or most of the players inactive. The biggest hit is the site also doesn’t seem to care or make any effort to pump life back in and they are the ones that would have to do it as they control the site. This may because of new things coming out, maybe an improved tournament system with more options and incentives, who knows??

You make a very good point. All we can do is try and see what happens. I think it is worth giving it a try. Just might work out for the best. We will not know if we don't try.

It is very rare that Russ says anything he takes it all in and decides what he is going to do, never rushes into anything. He did say I believe at one point if everyone one was in agreement he would be good with it.
Having said that as you said it may turn out that not many Clans get involved there are clans that will not play other clans because they can not come to an agreement on matches.
Everyone has a hard time with change, but having saw the large lead one Clan has over the rest of the clans, it may be something worth considering and trying. I was against it at first, but now I see the need for it if the Clan Challenges are to survive.

People say be a greeter, contact people, while not really realizing the sheer number of people needed for the clan system to maintain and grow to be competitive again. Sure a couple here and there might be picked up but nothing near the number needed. I’ve sent a few hundred messages over a two day time frame and got one player in the past. At this point I think club teams might be a better choice with whatever rules just because of the number of people involved and feeling connected.

Had it crossed your mine that people simply may not want to play on your clan? That is a possibility why you have a hard time recruiting!

I have been here for 10 years roughly longer than you have, I have seen 5 different changes in the points system, and not everyone including myself were happy with it.
My eyes are wide open my chess friend, I see what is going on. This is why I am saying lets give the new idea a chance. I have been able to recruit many new people to Breaking Bad, some worked out and some didn't but one has to always work at it. Things don't come easy or are handed to you.
