@Plater saidIt's good to see that you read the threads.

"how to increase interest in clans"
Having read all the bickering and insults in the thread, I would not join a clan if you paid me
Judging by the input we get ,you are in the minority of players on here.
I've not experienced any bickering or insults during my clan games but I get your point.
I stopped coming on this thread once because of the reasons you mention.
Believe me, it's not half as bad as it used to be!
Rusty and Mike are both decent chaps really.

Actually @mike69 and my conversation was rather tame compared to some disagreements we have both had with each other and others through out the years.
Don't come to a conclusion on a discussion between two members, because we didn't say Please and thank you. 🙂

@venda saidDave, non-subs are only allowed 6 games. That limitation alone would tend to make it difficult to incorporate them into a clan scenario.
It seems to me that there is more non subs on the site than ever.
Would it be practical to give non subs a taste of clan play by allowing non sub clans?
Obviously they couldn't be allowed the same privileges as normal clan players, but say for example a clan comprised of non subs could play in the system for a maximum of say 5 ongoing challenges against any other clan includ ...[text shortened]... clan?
It would need the admins to send a message to all non subs to see if there was any interest.
@shortcircuit saidI thought it had been increased to 12 games for non subs Fred.

I can't see Russ going for it anyway, but I put the idea out there to see what others might think.
Russ, are you listening? Are you interested in making modifications for clan chess?
Essentially, creating two divisions. This would allow the larger and/or more industrious clans to battle between themselves in one division, while the smaller and/or less driven clans could compete amongst themselves while not feeling it is for naught. Interdivisional play would be allowed, but not manditory so those that wanted to walk on both side could do so. I don't really think this would take too much programming to accomplish, and two mirror scoring tables to track the results. Each clan would have to commit to one or the other division at the beginning of the year, so it shouldn't be a nightmare for a wizard like yourself to accomplish.
What say you sir?? @Russ
@shortcircuit said@Russ Russ can you tell us if this is a possible fix for the clan system??

So if someone were to buy you a subscription you wouldn't play in a Clan?
Keep in mind you don't have to get involved in any of the banter back and forth. We are members who have known each other for years, at least on the site.

@Very-Rusty saidLook at me moment, he wasn’t going to join one anyway. The site combines people with totally opposite opinions and lifestyles putting their thoughts out there daily. Of course things can get a little heated at times with everything going on in the world. As far as for me I don’t actually have anything against anyone here as I’m sure most don’t but a few. Annoyed at times, yes. I read about you wrestling with bear cubs earlier, you must have had an interesting life in the traveling circus😁😁…

@mike69
Actually I was brought up in the country so came in contact with a lot of wild life, never in a circus, but these forums sometimes reminds one of the circus for sure. 🙂
Cubs are very playful and very strong, you should have tried wrestling one when you were a younger man. 😉

@Very-Rusty saidI know, it was just a joke. It was the circus or Grizzly Adams. I don’t have them around me, just poisonous snakes, mountain lions, bob cats and a lot of coyotes on the dangerous side. My ex wife lives in Colorado and she showed me pictures of the bears just walking around her neighborhood and on the doorbell camera.

I am happy we don't have many poisonous snakes, Lions, or coyotes.
Bears can be very dangerous. Have you ever seen two grown bears fighting each other? It is not a pretty site. We do have Bob Cats, wolves, and some snakes but few poisonous ones like in your neck of the woods. The skunks can be a pain the butt especially if they get scared and spray.
I use to watch Grizzly Adams faithfully, they had that bear well trained. We can't judge all bears by that show for sure as you know.

@Very-Rusty saidI liked that show a lot also. I’ve only seen bears fight on nature shows but doesn’t look fun to be around. I have a lot of copperheads on my property, and under my house. I’ve never seen them while working under there, just going under to get away from me. My neighbors property right next to me just has rattlesnakes, I guess they don’t like one another 😁. I also have a lot of granddaddy long leg spiders(yes I know that’s not the correct name and their not actually spiders) and he just has scorpions, which I don’t, although their very closely related.

Rattlesnakes can be dangerous right?
While grizzly bears can and do fight, and sometimes those fights are fatal, they don't always fight to the death. Fights are often over territory, mating rights, or food, and can end with serious injuries, but not always death. If a bear is defending its cubs or food source, it may be more likely to fight to the death.
We don't have Grizzly bears here in Nova Scotia but they have them out west and in British Columbia.
