But I fail to see how any of this has anything to do with the end times, certainly in the sense you seem to be referring to which is some sort of Armageddon type thing.

But still, the notion of 'End Times' is pretty ridiculous.
It has so many links to millenial movements from the past, and so few links - I know there's Revelations, but that's pretty tenuous - to any actual religious thought.
