Er, no. It's the word of God.
OK, seeing that you want to debate "intelligently", let's take this through to its logical conclusion and see if we can reach an agreement.

It started off (if I remember correctly) that someone said that they are nervous - and afraid - of Muslims and their intentions.

You replied that Islam "is not inherently antagonistic to the West" or words to that effect.

I challenged that by quoting the statements about the Great Satan and you replied that only SOME islamic leaders have said that after being provoked by the US.

Then you quoted verses from the Quran which say it is wrong to take human life EXCEPT under certain justifiable conditions.

I then said that this is what gives those leaders we spoke about the legal islamic authority to kill. And that WHEN this is justified is a matter of interpretation and opinion.

Your response is that it is the word of God.

SO the final conclusion must be that it is wrong for someone to kill somebody EXCEPT when God says so.

Which brings us full circle - conclusion: the West would do well to fear Islam.

Good point!

That brings us to the next point:

THE MYTH OF THE CLASH OF CIVILIZATIONS

Listen to it.

Then read

COVERING ISLAM

by the same author, an Arab-American protestant by the way.

No. It has a little circle with an arrow pointing left following an Arabic letter "jiin" and the arrow's in the middle of a drawing of Palestine.

Do you know what that flag even is?

Mods, cover your eyes and plug your ears: this is a site for an organization designated by the US State Dept. as "terrorist" because they made some scrap metal without killing anyone in Jordan in 1970. I provide it solely for gen's benefit:

Oh, they try, believe me. They try.

But the PFLP is no more terrorist than El Nino.

And what in Ohio would I be passionate about? I'm very passionate about some US issues, such as health care and socialism. If that means anything. Nothing in particular here in Ohio catches my interest, except for the huge KKK base in the south of the state.

1. El Nino is not terrorist. Neither is the PFLP. You want terrorists, go to Tel-Aviv.
2. California is falling apart right now. My kids would be unable to get a good education. Of course I wouldn't move there.

Yeah, whatever. Iran would be nice. I'm not that passionate about Afghanistan ... it's not like they aren't run by US-loving Sunni extremists.

EDIT: Extremist conservatives, no less.
