If you truly understand AND FOLLOW the teachings and example of Christ, such trivial matters as which church you enter, which movie you see, which evil people you associate with, what foods you eat, etc etc, are of no consequence.
Christ and all the Apostles, associated with the sinners of their time, the drunks, the lowlifes, the prostitutes, the simple ...[text shortened]... o shallow that they need to place so much emphasis on such nonsense. I guess it is no surprise.
Can't it also be said that if you understand and follow the teachings and example of Christ, then your choice of church, movies, people, foods, etc. etc., will manifest your understanding and following of Christ? IOW your choices will reflect your faith? Rather than HAVE consequences, your choices ARE consequences.
FMF: They are using exactly the same scripture that you use, to declare your church "unclean".Didn't you understand that the reference to 'the church being "unclean" is from robbie and "pretty much" endorsed by galveston75, and you ask me for an example and not them? Didn't you understand?

Nothing was said about the specific local church with which I meet.
Originally posted by JS357First, the expression "of no consequence" means it is not important. You are using the word 'consequence' differently. However you are correct that after a proper understanding of Christ, the consequences on your choices will be apparent.

Note that my point was NOT that understanding Christ will encourage you to shy away from people you consider 'inferior'.
Originally posted by jaywillrobbie said he wouldn't play chess in a local church as a "matter of conscience". I guess people like you and robbie get to define what "Babylon" is and denounce them all, and their way of following Jesus, as "unclean". I'll leave that kind of thing to you.

I do not get upset if someone implies that I am in Babylon. The Lord knows my case much better than they do. And they may not know the half of it.
I don't get touchy in a personal way about this as much as you may think.
You said you are spiritual but not religious. Many of us aspire the same thing.
One can meet with a thousand fellow Christians who are at one time enjoying Christ in spirit but are not in religion. This brings us together rather than pulls us apart in individualistic isolation.
Originally posted by jaywillI suppose the utter contempt for "unclean" Babylon is targetted at so many people, it can hardly be described as "getting personal". The joyless misanthropy - no matter how much it is denied or disguised - that underpins the outlook and self-regard of so many Christians, is not something I miss being part of.

You know I could really care less about your thoughts on the Bible and how you see them. But it's so wrong to tell others to just blow these warnings off as if they were nothing. ((((((((They are in the Bible and were put there for a reason even if you think differently.)))))))))))))
But then coming from you it's no suprise.
Originally posted by FMFYou are being a little vague on specifics. I know you are generally disgruntled about something related to my faith. It is all kind of vague to me.

I mean I know you're pissed off and disgusted. I got that part long ago.
You never get too specific about who and what kicked you in the groin psychologically or socially so that you will never forget it.
Its good to overcome resentment of the past offenses and to forgive.
I mean the same precious blood Jesus shed for my sins He also shed for the sins of my enemies.
Anyway, Jesus said the gates of hell would not prevail against His builded church. He didn't say the gates of hell would not try thier best. And I have no regrets about being a lover of Jesus with many other lovers of Jesus.
