Can you spot the difference between what I said [not what you think I said], and what you quoted?

I am referring to what sonship is saying about CALLING OUT JESUS NAME... FOR THREE MINUTES While you are quoting where Jesus said to ASK IN HIS NAME.

Do you understand th ...[text shortened]... mptation to gravitate to false teachers whose words are sweet but whose doctrine leads to death.
First of all your reference to John 12 is wrong.. maybe you might want to fix it.

I think I will leave it, I think it is pertinent.
Do you understand the warning of the sin of taking the Lords name in vain?

Yes I understand the warning of sin and taking the Lord's name in vain. My understanding of the taking the Lord's name in vain may be different than yours? What is yours? Is it something you would be willing to explain here or is that too personal?
Try to understand the teachings of Christ and try to resist the temptation to gravitate to false teachers whose words are sweet but whose doctrine leads to death.

I fully agree.

In speaking of vain repetition in praying I would add the following taken from the commentary of B.W. Johnson

Use not vain repetitions as the heathen do. What is forbidden is not much praying, nor praying in the same words (the Lord did both), but making the number of prayers, length of prayers, or time spent in praying, a point of observance and of merit. 1 Kings 18:26 gives an example of the repetitions of the heathen. Mahometans and Catholics still hold that there is merit in repeating certain prayers a set number of times.

I am an idiot because of a typo? Are you aware of how many typos you have had in your last several post?

My goodness, have the tinest bit of grace for Pete's sake, don't you get out enough or something?

You are one miserable dude and I feel sorry for you.

A wrong reference is not a typo.
If you know the kind of life I live you would be envious... not sorry.

It is a typo and strangely you knew exactly what I was talking about and proceeded to continue on anyways. As far as your life and being envious, I don't think so, sorry. I must admit I am a little surprised hearing that coming from you... you may want to check but you maybe breaking a law or commandment or something in there somewheres, you kinda sound a little like a Pharisee... Might just be me, I dunno.

I agree.

And anything without the exercise of the spirit can be vain. This thread was not to promote exercising only mouth muscles and not the spiritual component of a man's inner being.

Counting prayer beads for the sake of accumulating a large number of "Hail Marys" I would say is very vain.

How about "call for three minutes" - "O Lord Jesus. O Lord, Amen, O Lord Jesus, Lord Jesus" - is that vain ?

I am encouraging the caller to turn his heart to the living Lord Jesus and exercise his inner praying muscle (so to speak) while calling to touch the Spirit of Christ.

If after one minute you really feel this is vain, then stop.
However, you may feel that grace as a river is beginning to flow.

Do not hunt for vanity. Hunt instead for the living God.

Put another way - Because Romans 8:6 shows that our default state is the mind set on the flesh, we go against the current of this world by SETTING our mind on the regenerated spirit where the Spirit of Jesus is.

"For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the spirit [human spirit of the born again one where the Spirit of Christ is] is LIFE and PEACE."

Christians are then as salmon swimming upstream. We are swimming against the current and against the default condition of the fallen mind.

The MOUTH is useful to SET the mind on the regenerated spirit. And the MOUTH is helpful to marry the mind to the regenerated spiritual component.

Calling then, helps to SET the mind on the spirit where the Spirit of Christ is in the Christian. And we first learn to TURN there. Then we learn to WALK in that realm. Then we learn to LIVE there to the point that we are not conscious of it that much.

So then, SO then Paul prays that we would be STRENGTHENED INTO that realm. Here he made such a petition for us.

" That He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strenghtened with power through His Spirit into the innerman." (Eph. 3:16)

Well that is not my place to judge you if that is how you go about calming your mind and preparing yourself. We live in a very busy world an often times I myself have difficulty focusing on one thing... after all there is email to check, text messages to answer, dishes to wash, etc. ay number of hundreds of things seeking our attention. It takes time to settle down and focus, especially where prayer is concerned, it is also between you and God. A post I made of a commentary on vain repetitions I think is at the top of this page I think, it about sums it up for me.

And you are right it is like swimming upstream, a very good analogy indeed.

This matter of the outward business and distractions is addressed by experiences which break our outer man and cause us to be able to live in the Spirit.

This is a very big subject. But the breaking of the outer man allows us to be less and less effected by the outward circumstances. This is somewhat another topic from "turning" to the Lord through calling.

But you are quite right. We are effected by the outward matters upon our soul. But God will bring us to a point where we will be more keen to the matters in our spirit with His Spirit. And secondarily we are effected by outward pressures on the outward man - the soul.

This is one reason Paul prayed that the saints would be strengthened into that their inner man.

Calling on the Lord Jesus makes the regenerated spirit strong.
We can touch the Lord the Spirit. Gloom is turned into joy.

Whether the Christian is up or down she can call "O Lord Jesus! OOooo Lord Jesus." and we can touch the Holy Spirit. I encourage the Christians here that as soon as they wake up in the morning to call on the name of the Lord Jesus repeatedly and come into His presence -

The Devil often proposes things to you as soon as you wake up.
Try waking up to calling several times with a pure heart turned to the Lord -

"Ooooo LLLLOrd Jeeeesus ! O Lord Jesus. O Lord, Praise You Lord. Lord Jesus I LOVE You. Ooooo Lord Jesus."

Let touching the Lord Jesus be your very first transaction of the say when you wake up.

This morning when I woke up I was troubled about coming tough matters today.
Serious extended family problems are on my heart which are heavy.

I called on the name of the Lord [i]FIRST THING[/b]. I called "O Lord Jesus, O Lord Jesus" maybe forty or fifty times. I called and grace flowed from the Lord in my spirit.

I was empowered and supplied by the Lord in my spirit. Calling brought me to the throne of grace to receive mercy and timely help.

You may call on the Lord Jesus until your break through.
You certainly may call on the Lord every day and even the Bible says all day if you need.

Psalm 88:9

NET Bible
My eyes grow weak because of oppression. I call out to you, O LORD, all day long; I spread out my hands in prayer to you.

Aramaic Bible in Plain English
My eyes have melted from affliction and I called you, Lord Jehovah, every day, and have stretched forth my hands to you!

GOD'S WORD® Translation
My eyes grow weak because of my suffering. All day long I call out to you, O LORD. I stretch out my hands to you [in prayer].

Satan wants always to hinder Christians from progress. He may attack you at the weakest time with all kinds of unclean imaginations and proposals to sin. We can get God to hasten into our hearts and empower us to resist.

"O Jehovah, I have called upon You; hasten to me.

Give ear to my voice when I call out to You." (Psalm 141:1)

Calling "O Lord Jesus, O Lord Jesus. Lord Jesus I call on You Lord. Lord, I love You, Lord Jesus" will cause the Holy Spirit to burn in your heart. And you feel God is hastening to the sound of your voice and your prayerful calling.

Remember He is "RICH"{/b] to all who call upon Him. If you want to richly experience Jesus Christ as strength and power, as grace and supply, learn to call upon Him.

[b]"O Lord Jesus. O Lord Jesus. Hasten to me Lord."
Call at your weakest time. Call when there is no particular trouble around too. Learn to call at every time whether you're up or whether your down.

Call on the Lord Jesus as Moses called on God;

"And Moses cried unto Jehovah, saying, Heal her, O God" (Num. 12:13)

"O Lord Jesus. O Lord Jesus, we Do need healing Lord!"

Call O Lord Jesus to acknowledge that He is the God of all flesh.

"O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh." ( Num 16:22)

"O Lord Jesus. O Lord Jesus you are the God who can enliven my spirit - enliven ALL of our spirits. O Lord Jesus ! "

Call on the Lord Jesus and God will hear your voice as He heard Moses and Aaron and the Hebrews.

" .. and when we cried unto Jehovah, He heard our voice" (Num 20:16)

"Oooo Lord JESUS ! LORD JESUS !! Praise You Lord you HEAR my our voice !"

We can call on the Lord with O Lord Jesus as these OT saints called too on God.

Deborah and Barak

"O Jehovah" (Judges 5:31)

Gideon -

"O my Lord" (Judges 6:13)

Gideon again -

"O my Lord" ( 6:15)

We can call out to the Lord Jesus - "O Lord Jesus, O Lord Jesus."

Gideon again was a caller on God -

"and Gideon said, Alas, O Lord Jehovah !" ( Judges 6:22)

Are you destressed?
Are you troubled ?
Call "ALAS, O Lord Jesus. Alas, O Lord Jesus, Lord JESUS !!"

Call on the name of the Lord Jesus.

Call on the name of God incarnate - the Son of God Jesus Christ. Call like Manoah prayed to Jehovah calling "O Lord".

"Then Manoah prayed to Jehovah, and said, O, my Lord" (Judges 13:8)

CALL reader. CALL "O Lord Jesus MY LORD. O LORD JESUS! Lord Jesus, O MY Lord Jesus."
