I thought that god was supposed to be above such things as petty revenge. If, such an obviousely absent being existed, I have to say such petty vindictiveness would definately be a real turn off for potential converts.

You're not even displaying an acceptable level of mediocrity. Why would I even need a god who can spell no better than myself? I don't believe you have read scripture if you think God is above
being offended by man. He puts up with it, but does hold man
accountable for man own actions. You can be turned off or on by
that it doesn't matter. God is going to hold man accountable for
man's every word, without a getting saved no one will be able
to stand before God righteous. As far as telling you all the warm
and fuzzy things about God, you will be better served knowing
the truth, instead of having someone blow smoke up your butt
trying to make you happy so you will convert.
