A greater crime in history? For just one, how about the Nazi extermination of the Jew. Several million Jews were systematically killed, not in an act of war, but for no other reason than being Jewish.
And who was in alliance with that regime during WWII? The Japanese, only about a few hundred thousand of whom died in the bombings, which were clearly acts of war against a nation actively and aggressively at war with the rest of the world.
