Wives, submit to your own husbands,  as to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior.24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands.

We all know that husbands are not perfect, so is this statement actually true? Why should a woman have to submit to an imperfect husband?

Or is this instruction only for those wives who have married perfect Christ like men?

The Bible is widely open to interpretation and contains inconsistencies, discrepancies and outright contradictions. Though most refuse to admit it, they pick and choose the verses and passages that support their beliefs and dismiss those that don't and often do so in a most disingenuous manner. They then delude themselves into believing that they are following the "word of God". In effect they make God in their own image.

So goes it with the passage you cited.

So you claim this part of the Bible is simply a lie.

You seem to have missed the point. With the Bible being what it is, Christians interpret the Bible to fit their own beliefs and in doing so create God in their own image. How'd you miss that?

I was talking about this scripture. Is it a lie or is what is says truth?

The point is that with the Bible being what it is, Christians create their own "truth" and delude themselves into believing that they are following the "word of God".

It appears to be an instruction for all wives. Don't see how that passage could be interpreted any other way.

If there is a conflict between the commandments of God / Christ and the wishes of the husband, then the commandments of God must take precedence.
If there is no conflict then the wife should ideally obey the husband.

Ideally or required to if she is a Christian. I do not mean perfectly. Just when level headed.

Depends on the situation. There is no hard and fast, cast in stone rule from God here. Maybe if you gave an actual scenario I can comment further.

Contrary to what some Christians think, not all of Paul's statements are from God. Paul himself admitted that. Some are simply his own opinions.

Is this one of Paul's opinions?

How'd you get that out of what I've been posting?

'I have no command from the Lord, but I give a judgment as one who by the Lord’s mercy is trustworthy.'

1 Corinthians 7:25-40

Exactly. That's one. I think there are 2 more.
