@eladar saidTimes change. This stuff about women reflects the mindset of the writers of the Bible and the culture around them. It's like with homosexuality. Christians used to think it was morally justifiable to execute homosexuals or to have slaves, but they don't anymore.
So you claim this part of the Bible is simply a lie.
@fmf saidGood answer. The Bible is just a bunch of hog wash.

@eladar saidI am sure the people who wrote it did so in earnest. If you tell me that you believe Jesus rose from the dead, I wouldn't think you were lying.
Still a pack of lies.
When they started writing and editing the NT decades and decades after its central figure was executed, I have no doubt that most of them did so in good faith.
I am sure they mostly believed the stories they were recording for posterity, and not lying.
As for the last book of the NT, I have to admit I think it was probably a kind of hoax, although the fervour that presumably surrounded its alleged inception probably means that very few involved were lying about what they believed.
@fmf saidWho gives a rat's ass what you think about what they believed?

@fmf saidEladar, I realized that this was what I believed about it [above] after many years of believing in its source and veracity in more or less the way you do.

@fmf saidWell start a thread about that kind of thing instead of trying to muck up other discussions with your rubbish.
Who? Well, people who are interested in discussions these kinds of things, I suppose. You suggested I thought the NT is "a pack of lies". Well, I don't.
On topic discussion fine, trying to divert the topic is trash.
@eladar saidI was just responding to what you chose to introduce into the conversation, that's all. As I said, stuff like Ephesians 5 simply reflects the mindset of the writer of the verse and the culture around him.

@fmf saidI suppose you must be you. Go bounce your ball.

If your comment was not about the topic directly it is not appreciated. But you are so full of yourself it does not matter to you.
@eladar saidEphesians 5:24 was one of the Bible verses that robbie carrobie used to use to argue that there could be no such thing as 'marital rape' in a Christian marriage.
Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior.24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands.
