@karoly-aczel saidThe people who love you ~ you don't love them back?
Absolutely!! But I dont fear it in anyway.
@karoly-aczel saidI believe it is 100% possible to tell you to put this rhetorical gimmick in your pipe and smoke it.
Do you believe it is possible to know 100% that my contention is true?
@karoly-aczel saidIf your fear of death - and also you perceived meaning of life - is unconnected to the people around you, especially those you love and who love you, just explain it clearly so that other people here might want to talk to you about it.
of course I love them, those close ones I can count on one hand- I would lay down my life for them ...
Just because I am unattached doesn't mean I dont love
@fmf saidWell for example I love my son.

But also I accept that nothing is entirely safe and nothing is permanent. I had to let go of the attachment to him to go beyond relative understanding...

@karoly-aczel saidGood. Consider painting it onto a sandwich board and walking up and down Regent's Street. Maybe paint "brute fact" in bold capitals.
Once again, I know this because I have worked it out for myself.
It's not speculation, theory, intuition or any other relative concept FOR ME, It's a brute fact
@fmf saidWell I'm not going to walk up and down any street, I was just responding to the issues raised in this thread, however I would consider painting it on some board somewhere

@karoly-aczel saidNo. Drivel on in whatever way you choose. Don't wait for prompts from me.
death of?

@karoly-aczel saidYou mean what you said about something being a "brute fact"?
Well I'm not going to walk up and down any street, I was just responding to the issues raised in this thread, however I would consider painting it on some board somewhere
@karoly-aczel saidOk. Thanks for this. I've been impolite. Thanks very much for this. Consciousness has no end. Brute fact etc. No fear of death. Got it. Thanks.

One question I have about the Fear of Death thread.
No one here has experienced physical death yet.
All we can say is completely out of our personal experience.
If someone were to claim to know about this unknown realm by experience, what moral characteristics of such a person would you want to see in them?
Ie. "If someone were to claim to know by experience what will occur upon my death, I would want these personal moral character traits to be strong in that person
___________,
___________,
___________,
etc. "
