To be clear, you are not under any obligation to take the thought experiment seriously. Take it or leave it, that's up to you. But let's refrain from misrepresenting it and the motivations of those who offer it up beyond all get out, mmmkay?

I don't see how one that deeply loves his wife could actually believe what you say. But I guess that is just me. Beat me with a wet noodle. 😏

We adopted twin boys who were severely abused, we got them in full body casts and they didn't get out of them till they were 5 months old. The birth mom was a prostitute who hated the father and took that hate out on the twins. They were also born addicted to cocaine and heroin, crack babies.
We almost lost the love of our other kids over this, but they ...[text shortened]... rocky road for a long time but they have come out ok, as best as they can get, in the long road.
our daughter, there was a baby in the next room that was crack baby. He
was the in the worse shape in the hospital at that time of the kids there till
we got there. It broke my heart when we were in there with Ramie for him,
my wife stayed with Ramie every day for 3 months, I came on my days off
it was over a 100 miles from where we lived to the hospital she was in.
Children miracle network helped pay for my wife's room so we always help
them when we can. I was only working part time at that time, my wife quit
her job so she could be with Ramie before we knew what was wrong with
her.
That poor kid in the next room had no one who came to see him, and we
were there for 3 months from Ramie's 4th month through her 7th. We all
wanted him, us the other parents who were there for their kids, even the
nurses, but he had a mom, she just didn't show up. Right before we left his
dad showed up that was good. Never knew what happen to him after we
left, I think about him from time to time.

Why do you insist on deflecting attention and hiding behind your own faults by accusing others of the very same thing? As Andy said, "You beat all, you know that?"
Do you think she is trying to facilitate and encourage debate and discussion between people with different beliefs on this debate and discussion forum, including participation in a thought exercise like this one, or do you think she is trying to inhibit debate and discussion by browbeating people with different beliefs from her, deflecting by projecting motivati ...[text shortened]... ng to change the topic into her own 'manufactured outrage' rather than the hypothetical in hand?

If the hypothetical were 'Imagine if the U.S. had completely lost its capacity to project military power outside its own hemisphere over the last 20 years, what impact would it have had on the world we live in today?', as a proud and patriotic American, would you be genuinely offended?
Oh wait, both of those are on trees. Okay, apples and potatoes then, as the two "hypotheticals" you are comparing have *nothing* to do with one another.
One I care deeply about, and the other I couldn't really give a fig about. But, hey, way to compare them anyways.

What did you think of Rollo May?
I'm not a big fan of existential psychology. It seems to be too awash in philosophy for me, and thus represents how some would like psychology to be versus how it actually is. Rollo May first had his training and background in theology, so I can see why he would seek to mesh philosophy with psychology. His work on anxiety, though, was an important seminal work in the field.

Apples and oranges, mate. Suzianne has to decide whether to answer, or not answer, the question "If it could actually be proven that the Christian god doesn't exist, how would that change your life, if you're a Christian?" Unless this question formed part of the aftermath of the humanitarian disaster in Haiti, you don't necessarily know what it's like to walk a mile in Suzianne's forum bovver boots.
And oh, btw, what makes you think his post has ANYthing at all to do with you? How can YOU set yourself up as forum police when you personally have hijacked MANY more threads than moonbus?
Originally posted by SuzianneI don't see you have any need to be sorry for any post to FMF. He comes in on the tail end of a thread without reading and comprehending all the posts and starts his subtle infiltration by misrepresentation and continues his attack by making an ass out of himself.
Sorry, my post here that I have chosen to delete was driven by me (and possibly RJH) mixing up responses from you and moonbus.

families, I'm a fan!
We were never told what his conditions were they would have been wrong
to tell us. The thing that broke my heart with him was here was an infant
and he was alone, those that should have cared for him had other priorities
mainly drugs. I suppose guilt could have been eating at them too.
