@sonship saidI would disagree, God is not in need of cooperation of His people, He actually has told His people over and over these are things that will happen if you obey and these are the things that will happen if you don't. There is no need there, there is a desire to fulfill what God made us for, to be His image, this would be like entering into a relationship with God that God has between the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
@Ghost-of-a-Duke
Throughout both testamental times God is in need of the cooperation of His people.
There is this side of the revelation of God.
One has to get use to the things of the Bible have two sides.
Kelly is not wrong that God is self sufficient. In one sense God is needing nothing.
But the things of the revelation of God often have two sides like the ...[text shortened]... No, it is a matter man coming into the co-operation of the eternal purpose for which we are created.
There is no need, He is attempting to get us to be like Him, and we are not when we demand our own way, when we walk our own paths without Him, when we turn the life we have away God, avoiding God's goodness for our own selfishness.
Genesis 1
"Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness..."

Why do you think quoting from you fairy-tale book has any
more credence than mine ... or the guy on that other continent?
Would you give credence to my quotes of Maori gods?

@wolfgang59 saidAll Christians come to this cross roads. Billy Graham certainly did. Before his ministry took off he was plagued with the controversy in his own circles as to the divine nature and truth of scripture. He simply went for a walk on a cold winters night, laid the Bible on a tree stump, looked up to heaven and told God that although he did not have all the answers he was going to live his life by faith that the word of God was actually the word of God.

Had he made the other decision, none of us would have known who he even was.

Nay. But that doesn't mean He is not in need of their coordination and cooperation. That is to say it is to THEIR advantage also, that they cooperate.
The Bible ENDS with a MARRIAGE - of a Husband and a Wife - God and His elect chosen people.
If you understand a man needing his wife then you should understand God, the Almighty, the All-Sufficient, nevertheless putting Himself in a position that He needs a counterpart.
There is no need there, there is a desire to fulfill what God made us for, to be His image, this would be like entering into a relationship with God that God has between the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
No, He RESTED on the day in which all was committed under Adams leadership. He RESTED, not out of fatigue but out of satisfaction.
God has a put Himself in a position to be in need of man.
He need to become a man to redeem us.
The man needed to become a life giving Spirit in order to let God live in us.
the last Adam became life giving Spirit
No, God has a need for man to be one with Him and He with God for the fulfillment of His eternal purpose.
What? Read it again. God will CRUSH His enemy Satan - under the feet of the overcoming saints in the prevailing church.
Now the God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen. (Romans 16:20)
"But God, why do you need to crush Satan under the feet of the saints? Dear God YOU don't need anything to crush Satan. You can do so at any time. You do not need anymore than your OWN feet to crush Satan. "
God has put Himself in a position that He is limited by man. He will not unilaterally crush Satan until He has a corporate man on the earth who is ONE with His will, echoes His will, corresponds to His will.
Then under THEIR feet He will soon crush Satan.
God needs the cooperation of His people. He needs for His people to open themselves up completely to be saturated and filled with Christ to be the enlargement of Christ.
Satan HATES for Christians to know this. But we must teach it and pray for it and cooperate with God Who needs His people.
There is no need, He is attempting to get us to be like Him,
We will be like Him. It will be sooner or latter. So why not sooner? His righteousness demands that He fulfill His plan to conform us to the image of Christ completely.
God needs man to be conformed to the image of the Firstborn Son of God.
He has purposely allowed Himself to be in need of man's cooperation.
and we are not when we demand our own way, when we walk our own paths without Him, when we turn the life we have away God, avoiding God's goodness for our own selfishness.
Genesis 1
"Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness..."
Right there.
God created man to look like God and to reign for God.
God created man to express God and exercise dominion on behalf of God.
He marries this corporate man at the end of time.
The Lamb and His Wife the New Jerusalem are an eternal couple.
Why do you think you need a wife?
And why do you think a woman needs a husband?
In the heart of most of us God has placed this longing so that we can understand Himself. He longs for a COUNTERPART.
God needs man to marry man as a collective, corporate expression of the mingling of divinity and humanity.
He needs it.
He was not satisfied with millions of angels, not even the most powerful angels. God needed Man to be organically united with man as one mingled Body of Christ.
Tell Satan that we and Christ united are going to crush him under OUR feet shortly according to Romans 16:20.
@sonship saidYou keep implying God needs us for something, that isn't the case. He isn't weakening Himself turning Himself from the great I AM into a needy God looking our for companionship.

If you want to continue to believing God is now needy, completely up to you. It isn't scriptural, God is the same yesterday, today, and forever! He is not going to go from self sufficient, to a lonely God attempting to make someone worthy for a date.
@kellyjay saidGod, as portrayed in the OT, is arguably the neediest God in all religious writings.

@ghost-of-a-duke saidYou should read the OT with your eyes open, but if you have and that is your opinion quote the scriptures make the case. I don’t think you can backup your claims!

@kellyjay saidThe OT God is a tribal God demanding constantly to be worshipped and profoundly jealous and hotheaded.

Or if you prefer Richard Dawkins (The God Delusion) 'The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully.”

@ghost-of-a-duke saidHe created everything and everyone, He gives everyone everything we need for life, He is the moral law giver, the maintainer of all things. You seem to be giving everyone a pass on all the evil men did.
