Look.
Nobody is saying that there wasn't a really big flood, we have really big floods even now and I'm sure it looks like end of the world to those people caught in them.
But 30,000 feet of water covering the entire planet!?!?
There's just not enough water to do that.
With God all things are possible.

Noah's Ark was considered mysterious even in mediaval times.

(Noah's Wife is what interests me here).

The trouble with retrospective treatments like the one in the link is that they strip the story of its mythological dignity & send it out into the streets naked & ashamed. "Please donate generously".

Not a lie, a myth.

It's funny, I Googled "proto-myth flood" and half the hits were RHP threads.

Here's a worthy blog: http://nathanlott.blogspot.com/2004_04_01_nathanlott_archive.html

Like saying Cain mated with his sister as an explaination of where his wife comes from and yet insisting the Bible be taken literally after making that up?
Take it literally, but we'll fill in any gaps.

That new Noah sounds like the kind of guy who stayed on Mt St Helen's but I wish him luck.

Chaucer wrote uproariously about a latter-day Noah and his sweet deceitful wife in (if memory serves) The Nun's Priest's Tale.

Silly putti.

Latest update on the water thing.
The ocean floor was made to rise to the level of the continental shelf or above, sloshing all the water onto the land. The mountains in the time of the Flood were lower. It rained a lot.
After, the ocean floor sank, sucking all the water back and the mountains grew because of er the pressure or something.
There, that explains that.
Take it or go to Hell.
Have a nice day.

Yes there is. the more you smile the better you feel, and if I'm going to loose I want to loose to someone happy which is why beating me costs more smiles 🙂 Basically I just want people to smile more.
