Goodness gracious, deary me! I am horrified - horrified I say - at the very suggestion that FMF would ever dream of doing such a thing as letting some one "go on and on" without cluing them in. Horrified! 😉
Originally posted by RJHinds I think you are misunderstanding the purpose of the analogy. It does

It is *you* (unsurprisingly) who misunderstands the purpose of an analogy. Analogies serve to illustrate structure, not aesthetics. Moreover, if an analogy fails an important structural detail then it doesn't work.

Well, as they say, the game (or perhaps the metagame in this case) is the thing. I won't be playing along again.
Originally posted by Suzianne It all comes down to the fact that Christianity comes from Isaac's side of the family, and Islam comes from Ishmael's side of the family.
Just to be clear, what I meant to say here is that Judaism comes from Isaac's side of the family, and that, since Christianity and Judaism share the Old Testament, Christianity comes from Isaac's side of the family as well.
Originally posted by FMF Thank you for your long and considered response, by the way. The time you spent explaining your thoughts to me in this way is appreciated. 🙂
You're welcome and thank you. I regret the falling out we had (okay, I had) the other day.
When I typed that sentence you quoted, not only was I not aware that Allah was the Indonesian word for God, I was also unaware that you were speaking of Indonesian Christians, versus Indonesians as a whole.
My bad. In future I shall double check what you have typed so that I do not make similar mis e fool of myself.
Well, rest assured that I get it now.
Do you believe God has a Son and that only begotten Son is Jesus the Christ?
If so, you do not worship the same God as Islam, because Allah has no son.
P.S. The Allah of Islam is who we Christians call Satan the Devil, IMO.

The God of the Jews and the Christians is the God of Abraham, who comes to us through Isaac.
The Allah of the Muslims is the God of Abraham, who comes to them through Ishmael, the elder half brother of Isaac.
Each manifestation of God comes through each religion's Holy texts with a different history and a different agenda. Each religion pretty much denounces things given as fact in the other religion's Holy text. Each religion claims their God is the only God and the other religion is full of liars. Each religion has a history of some 5500 years of their God showing favoritism to their religion and claiming their religion is the "chosen people" while also claiming the other religion is full of infidels.

So let me get this straight.
Are you saying that the Jews and the Christians do not worship the same God then?

Same God, different motives, different agenda.
Islam came about by Satan appearing to Mohammed as an "angel of Light"
and the Koran (Quran) was produced based on his antiChrist agenda and
the God of Abraham was hijacked and reinterpreted for this end. God has
been redefined in Islam to represent a different god. A evil god that has
no son offering no salvation.

Jews are only blinded in part to allow gentiles to be saved. They believe
the Messiah is yet to come as we do also. But we believe He has already
come in the form of God's only begotten Son and will return again to
reign over the earth. The Jews are looking for His coming also but do
not believe Jesus was He.

It is not a Christian doctrine. It is simply the truth. 😏
