Not fully comprehensible by humans, it was designed that way, but by humans to be as dense as possible, as many interpretations as possible so they can claim a deity inspired it when in fact all they are really interested in (the upper ranks of religion) is creating a power base of political power and to oh so conveniently put them on the top of the food ch ...[text shortened]... women, housing, food, money and all that. THAT is their motivation, nothing to do with a deity.
I agree that conceptions of deity have been altered over time as new challenges to old concepts trigger modifications. An example is at the heart of Christianity, in John 18:36, where Jesus says, "My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another place." this acknowledged and reacted to the fact of Roman dominance and distanced him (conceptually) from those Jews who had an earthly king in mind.

So to be clear you would take your own moral compass over what the Bible says? Don't you think that the effects of sin can sear your conscience and corrupt your own moral compass? The Bible clearly says "There is a way which seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death." "Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path."

I believe the Bible should be my moral compass. If I have any doubts I need to check what the Bible says. Obviously since we now live during the new covenant the New Testament would take precedent and the Old Testament needs to be understood in context.

I believe that it is blindingly obvious for anyone who understands the context of the old testament and the new testament that since we now live during the new covenant causing any harm to children is always wrong.

You can't say that because you have not looked at all evidence in the world. That isn't possible.

But, if a person asked you what kind of things you'd accept, within reason, as evidence for God, what would you say? If you have nothing to offer, then you haven't thought your position through . . . and if you haven't done that, then can you honestly lay claim to the title atheist?
Now you are copy-pasting a question you asked me a great many posts ago which I answered, and after which you promised me to demonstrate evidence for the existence of god.

Are you going to provide evidence?

Cool I've answered yours now would care to answer mine before we continue?

This is a serious question. As an outspoken Christian, what is your interpretation of the old testament passages in question?

I'm sure as a Christian you know what I'm on about. Do you just reject these parts of scripture?

So you are a Christian and you don't know what scripture I'm on about? 🙄

1 Sam 15:3 "Now go fight against the Amalekites. You must completely destroy the Amalekites and everything that belongs to them. Don’t let anything live; you must kill all the men and women and all of their children and little babies. "
