The "torture" mentioned by the person to whom I was replying.

Are you suggesting that negative actions do not deserve negative consequences?
I am suggesting that we should not be murdering or torturing serial paedophiles.

The OP did not mention murder.
So scratch that.
The sixth commandment does not prohibit killing as punishment for crimes, or a soldier killing the enemy in war. Two different Hebrew words are used for the taking of life — kill (harag) and murder (ratsach). The word used in the sixth commandment is ratsach and implies the premeditated taking of human life, typically out of malice.

The correct translation of the sixth commandment is: Thou shalt not murder.

No due process? Are you sure? And what would be the purpose of torturing them?
More confessions of sexual abuse.
They have made innocents suffer.
After all, the universe balances out

What would you think is fair? Bed and breakfast (jail) ? A quick death?

They should all be put on an island and hunted, imo

(due process is implied here)

The death penalty, war, and abortion are examples of premeditated murder.

Justice is not limited by the 'authorities'

I would gladly goto jail for removing a serial paedophile from the Earth. And I would be applauded for it by most

What does being "applauded" for committing murder have to do with it?

When it comes to incarceration and capital punishment it must be limited to government authorities.

Incarceration.

The commandment is thou shalt not murder.
Not in my bible.
Most translations give "kill".

This group hasn’t come to any agreed description of the circumstances that are violations of the command not to kill, not even reaching agreement on the process to be followed to come to such agreement, yet I’d bet that none of us would want to be left out of a real-world decision of such a matter.

I guess being correct in one out of 3 is not bad.
