If you find my posting aggressive, overly forthright, or even hostile, that is one thing. Unless I tone that down, you will probably continue to find it hostile. But your "perception of anger" is a mistake. There is no anger.

I perceive strong annoyance, displeasure, or hostility from you 90% of the time. Is my perception wrong?

So do you mean to say that next time I perceive strong annoyance, displeasure, or hostility from you it is not 'anger' as defined in the dictionary? Ok. If you say so. 🙄

What I "mean to say" is exactly what I actually did say. If you think I am angry when I post, then you are mistaken. I'll tell you what, if ever I post in anger, I will PM you and point the post out to you.

If this means you perceive that I am actually angry, then yes your perception is wrong. Do you perceive anger in Suzianne most of the time when she addresses me?

Whether you do or don't post in anger is not the issue here. Do you disagree that your posts can be perceived to contain strong annoyance, displeasure, or hostility?

Well, it certainly is the issue if your perception that I am angry is a mistake, as is the case here..

So you are saying the dictionary is wrong when it says 'anger' is defined as 'a strong feeling of annoyance, displeasure, or hostility.'?

Her words are directed at you not at me. Why would I get a feeling of annoyance, displeasure, or hostility from words that are not directed at me?

They can be perceived as utter, nonsensical gobbledegook; they can be perceived as having a strong undercurrent of irony and mischief; they can be perceived as intellectually weak; they can be perceived as narcissistic and self-absorbed; they can be perceived as funny and astute; they can be perceived as blunt and stubborn; they can be perceived as hostile; they can be perceived as worthless; they can be perceived as worthy. So?

So if you get a strong feeling of annoyance, displeasure, or hostility from Suzianne's posts do you think you have the right to perceive her as angry?

I am saying that I do not feel anger and I am not angry according to that dictionary definition.

You can perceive her any way you want. Do you think she is actually angry?

If someone were to perceive them as having 'a strong feeling of annoyance, displeasure, or hostility', why would they not be justified in using a dictionary definition of 'anger' to conclude that their perception of them is one of 'anger'?
