I think you mistake yourself for the person you'd like to be.
In your next post explain with no reference to brute belief, that a natural universe supernaturally defies its own law to run down.
Your trillions of eons old never begun universe should have melted away into dark nothing a long time ago.
Without a religious "I just have faith in it " tell us how.
~ or at least I won't until I see a credible revelation by a god or gods.
It could be that you don't see the life, words, deeds of Jesus Christ as credible because you are too lost in your own self love and sin love which keeps you blind to real goodness when it is right in front of your face.
I am not superstitious.
But you don't know how the universe did not run down by now. You just have something like a faith or a hope or a belief that it was so. Right?
Asked how? You don't know. Maybe better - you have no opinion.
Well, I don't know some things HOW they could be either. The difference is I have no problem confessing that I have a FAITH.
Furthermore, I have Person in history with a most powerful personality Who gives me rationale confidence that I am on the right track - IF NOT mathematical like proof I am.
But I am open-minded. The stuff you say about your religion is nor more credible than the other religions I have encountered.
Your Atheism is sure less credible then others I have seen.
You should consider that maybe you're an embarrassment to your group.
If you confess the existence of EVIL then you must confess the existence of DESIGN.
If deviation from what OUGHT to be morally exists (EVIL) then WHO designed how it OUGHT to be ?
You?
Atoms accidently colliding randomly over a long period of time?
Where did the design of how things OUGHT to be come from such that deviation (morally) gives rise to the EVIL ?
Concentrate on that.

Originally posted by @sonshipGood for you. As I have said many a time, if it gives you purpose and meaning, helps you come to terms with the inevitability of death, and if it helps you to treat others in a morally sound way, then I welcome it and wish you all the best. I would not rather die than be stuck with a mind like yours, even reliant as it is on the psychological consolation and solace that your religion gives you. I'd accept being stuck with your mind rather than die.

I HOPE you are wrong about me being set on fire, and hung out on chains, about me not being permitted to just cease to exist, so that my "woe" can "glorify" [your word, not mine, you said it, not me] - yes "glorify" - your god figure.
And I HOPE that you are wrong about all this being a warning to others [including people on other planets] so that those people will be scared into believing the stuff you believe.
I HOPE that you're wrong about all that.

You’ve previously said you were a Christian for nearly 40 years. How long did this “long hard look” last and why didn’t you have it before you were a Christian?
Apparently you just wandered into being a Christian the way one might wander into a department store and then spent nearly 40 years in the can before you decided to check out the merchandise.
Your claim of being a Christian for nearly 40 years is beginning to sound a lot like Heartpence’s claim of having a theology degree.

I understand that my responses to you are contributing to the "fact" that I am going to get tortured for all eternity ~ set alight, and hung out on chains, not permitted to just cease to exist, to "glorify" your god figure, and as a warning to others so that they better believe the stuff you believe ~ according to your theology ~ right?
