There's no hope lost on me at all. Why would any hope be lost? You're forgetting - I'M AN ATHEIST!! There is NO HEAVEN! So there's nothing for me to lose. I'm happy with my life is what I mean to say. Happy that I'm contributing to the world, raising kids, loving my wife, enjoying my time with friends, satisfied with my work. I'm happy that I'm not wasting time on some hopeless belief that there's anything after my body is dead and I'm dust. I'd rather enjoy my time now, than live in vain hope for something else.

As for the 'end times', they're not coming. At least, that's my take on the world.
I've read the NT many years ago, won't be going there again any time soon. With respect to your other suggestions (book and film) can't say I've really got much time and inclination to explore them. That might seem close minded to you I suppose, but from my perspective, religious belief is close minded, since in a sense it rejects a whole raft of other perspectives that can enlighten.

about miracles. She had really bad cancer. She and her family prayed.
The cancer was still there. They prayed more.
She went to the doctor's office and he said that
he couldn't believe it. The cancer was GONE.
That's a miracle.

God answers all prayers in His time not yours.
In other words, if you pray the prayer may be answered today,
tomorrow, next year. Time is irrelevant to God because God
