Again, Mr. Natural Selection enters the conversation. This single-minded selector, which is not a force of nature, prefers to be known as a process... like photosynthesis, or other equally measurable occurences, except, unique guy that Mr. Selection is, he is unmeasurable! What a guy this Mr. Selection is, huh folks?

Amanion,
Don't you ever think of Heaven?
Do you think it exists?
I know it exists.
How?
God is still there, isn't He?
I'll pray for all of you.
Please see the "Argumentum Spiritualensis (not serious!)" thread in this forum to see how ridicules your post is.

There is no heaven.
There is no god.
There is no god in heaven.
Your reasoning astounds me.
How do you know heaven exists?
Because god is there.
If I were to ask you how you know god exists you'd probably say because heaven is there.
Exactly the kind of circular reasoning that gets no one anywhere.
If humans supposedly evolved from primeapes and over millions of years our bodies were formed into the beings which we are today, Why did our bodies stop evolving? Why did we not keep evolving into another form of creature. It seems to me that the only part of the human body that is continuously undergoing change is the mind, yet so many years ago our bodies underwent the change from "The ancesteral monkey" to a modern human.
I do agree that over the years our mind has evolved and we have become more intelligent as a species, but why did the first stages of our supposed "evolution" include a physical transfiguration?

Let's look at your question from a non-human perspective.
Why have any currently existing species stopped evolving?
There are two possible answers to this:
1. They haven't. Evolution continues. But given the large time scale over which changes would be occuring, any individual would not be able to see changes.
Of course, for humans, we have records for the last 5000 years or so, so we have a good way of looking at longer terms than other species. And yet no changes are apparent over this time period - so either human evolution takes a lot longer than this, or we're not evolving.
2. Evolution has effectively stopped for these species, since evolution is about adaptation to environments. If a species is adapted to a given environment why bother evolving?
Of course, evolution is not something that turns on or off.
As Freaky has tried to deride again and again, it's an ongoing process.
My guess is we see no changes in humans because those changes that have occured are small scale - which is what we'd expect. Large scale changes - growing two heads or something - would take considerably longer - hundreds of thousands or millions of years. We just haven't seen enough yet.
As for the mind.
I'm guessing early modern humans would have the same mental capacity as us - we just have combined language, culture, learning and recording to give us an edge.

Let me ask you a question: when a new species appears (something that has been observed) what would satisfy you that it had evolved from some other species? Or do you believe that they simply pop into existence out of nothing?

Why do you think we've stopped evolving?
