Firstly it is not for you to "point out" I have no respect, you have absolutely nothing to base that on.

Secondly why preach to me that I should be grateful to your imaginary
friend when you cannot even articulate your own reasons for worship?

It seems every time I ask you to think you go into meltdown.

No melt down, actually I was wondering about you. You ask for my reasons
I give them to you, then you come back with not enough. I don't wonder
about what makes you tick, I don't ask why you believe what you do, or
reject what you do not want to believe in.

You don't want my opinion on any topic don't ask then you will not see what
I think about any topic. So if I tell you "respect" for the Creator of the
universe is one of my reasons for worship, take it as true. You don't have
to accept my views on if my reason are valid in your eyes. You should
however just accept what I tell you are my reasons for what I do.

I've deleted the flim-flam, this sentence at least is on track.

But there are two parts missing from your argument.

    1. Why respect god? What has he done that is so special (given that he is
omnipotent)? It would be like respecting someone for being tall (or short).
Does respecting someone for their intrinsic character make any sense?

    2. You have failed to make any link between respect and worship. I
presume there are many people you respect but do not worship - so there
are many counter examples to your argument. How can respect = worship?

I've answered your question for who He is and what He has done.
I'm not going to repeat myself.

I have not failed to make the link either, you just reject my reasons which
I simply don't care if you accept my reasons or not.

I hate putting words into people's mouths but if I understand you correctly
you respect your omnipotent god because he is omnipotent. So basically he
doesn't have to go out of his way to earn your respect.

I cannot see where you make the link between respect and worship.

    DOES ANYONE

I thank God for all of my family.
I thank God for my life.
I thank God for His mercy and grace.
I thank God for the universe I live it.
I thank God for guiding me in life.
I thank God for the list goes on and on.
I acknowledge God as the beginning and the end, the One who holds it all
together by the power of His Word.
I acknowledge God as the Light of the world.
I acknowledge God as my Savior and King.

You're going round in circles again.
I can see that you are thankful to god for all those things, I can see that.
But you have not made a connection between being thankful and worship.

I can see no justification for it. We thank people in our everyday lives without worshipping them.

And the last sentence "I worship him because he is worthy". Worthy of what? Worthy of worship I guess ... but that really isn't getting us very far is it?

You don't have to see the connection for what I do!
What do you think is required for worship, being a good sports star,
    or movie star, or what?

Only God can do the things I worship Him for, no other.

    I do not understand worship.
I do not worship anyone or anything so I cannot answer your question.
You however do worship something, but can give no reason why.

    I do not understand worship
That is why I started this thread.
I had hoped that only those with an answer would participate.

If you don't understand worship why do you think you'd grasp why others
do it, even if they tell you why?

Because that is how we learn throughout our lives.

I wasn't born with a knowledge of Calculus.

If I had thought "I don't understand calculus - why should I be able to grasp it when I'm told how?" I wouldn't have got very far.

I think it was Feynman who said something like
"If you can't teach it to others you really don't understand it"

I don't think you have a clue why you worship.

You were not born with the knowledge of Calculus, but you had learn how
see, hear, taste, smell, or feel? If you've never experienced God why would
anything to do with God even register with you? You remind me of some
body who thinks they know what having a child is like, because they own
    a pet they love.
