body who thinks they know what having a child is like, because they own
a pet they love.

I'm not asking you to describe the experience of god (though why
that should be impossible to describe I don't know). I am asking
you to explain your own rationale for worshipping a god.

I don't understand the references to sight, sound etc.
You not got pets?

and I can tell you pets and kids are not the same thing.
You went on about learning cal as if that was what we were talking about,
and I brought it back to something else. You don't have anything in your
life that can compare. You have admitted you don't get worship, you do
not get God, yet you keep asking about both.
If I were you, I'd go to the source. Start there the rest will be made clear.

The 12 yr old has to be kept on a leash.
The dogs are friendly enough.
This thread is about a single question (Clue: thread title)
I keep asking because you keep replying without an answer.
Look back over your replies; each one I have asked you to expand on
but you do not. Instead you give a different reply. And on and on it goes.
You have not given me one reason why you worship your god.
(Or the corollary in my OP asking why a god would want worship)
Originally posted by wolfgang59Yes, i strive to love God as best i can, but in my foolishness/sinfulness i fall short of where i feel i should be. The Lord has given to me many gifts/blessings that are beautiful. My wife, children, friends and the friendship i have with God. The responsibility of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit within me. Yes, all those experiences i speak of here in my posts.
Are you saying you strive to love god?
In my own mind, i see myself as a sinful person. (we are our own worst enemies) But it is the Father who says to me, "son come up here and sit next to me". And i tell Him how unworthy i am to be the -------. And the Father says to me, "are you calling me a liar".
There was a lot more said, but His phrase is deep. When the Father calls me son, it is who i am. Obviously not Jesus, but we are His sons and daughters, we who choose to love God.
My bottom line, i worship God because i love Him.

If I told my wife that "I strive to love her" she would not be impressed!!
Either you love your god or you do not. Surely?
Certainly you know there are levels of love. From basically the surface to being deeply in love. I am deeply in love with the Father, and i know the Father deeply loves me. (the Father, meaning God)
You might say, how do you deeply love Him. First and foremost, the deep love i have for Him in my heart. All the rest, obedience to His will, living the Commandments and being myself, all these and more. Easily become one in Him.

I put to you that;
1. It is impossible to strive to love someone/something
2. You cannot know how much he loves you.
3. He doesn't actually exist (ssshhh this is TOP SECRET)

I can only imagine, because you don't want to.

Agreed. I don't get it.
But neither do you because you have failed to show a connection
between worship and any of the "reasons" you have put forward.
you don't have eyes that see. The reasons are the connection, you don't
see it, I cannot help you and I hope someone else can.

For instance;
"I worship god because I love him"
That would be a reason if you could show that everything/everyone you loved you also worshipped. But that is not the case (just one counter example suffices to disprove your reason). Therefore LOVE cannot be the reason you WORSHIP.
Similarly you say you respect god but do not worship everyone you respect.
et cetera
WHY do you worship this god?

when I spell it out for you. I love God yes, He is perfection in my eyes, and
the one I owe everything too.

And yes - I cannot see the connection between LOVE and WORSHIP
and NOWHERE have you even tried to explain it.
Why do you worship him/it/her?
