I do not believe there is any chance that this would happen.

Basketball's problem is that they play too many games. With so many games, what does any one game mean? Football does not have that prob ...[text shortened]... o basketball teams play in one season? How many games does a football team play in one season?
It has nothing to do with the number of game. MLB plays 162 games a year and the Yankees sell crazy amounts of tickets because you need wins to make the playoffs. If too many people got in, people would stop watching the regular season.

So now you are arguing for a play off that has fewer than 16 teams? How about 8?

How many MLB teams are there? How many teams make it to the playoffs?

How many Division I college football teams are there?

I recognize that i am in the minority but I do not want a playoff at all in college football. It dilutes the regular season as it would put teams with three losses on equal footing with those who have none. It would still cause arguments as whether the winner of minor conference such as the MAC get an automatic bid or how many teams a strong conference like the SEC gets. Right now if OSU or Oregon loses this week they are no longer playing for a national title. You'd put them in the playoff anyone. To me it just makes it like college hoops.

You are right. I should have at least asked for special permission to disagree. Perhaps the RHC supreme court can give me the privelege to express my opinion.

One of our local Ducks writers said that if he had a vote he'd have to put Nebraska at #1. Hard to disagree with his rationale; however, once Ohio St. has played Wisconsin then they can put to rest some of the harrumphing over their current #1 status.

I was just pointing out the lie that you like to repeat. A play off would not destroy the regular season.

Nice to see Ohio State fall. Same teams year after year just makes things boring. Here's to Michigan State having an undefeated season.

Too bad Texas won, I guess Nebraska isn't so hot after all. They really haven't played anyone before Texas so I suppose it shouldn't have been that great a surprise. Overall I'd say it has been a very good week from my point of view.

If there were a sixteen team playoff, would it matter that the #1 team Ohio State lost and now won't win the big 10? Would it matter that the highest rated team in the Big 12 lost. Of course not, this week shows exactly how important it is to play each week in college football in the non-playoff system. Sine Nebraska and Ohio State are virtually assured of being top 16 teams, there is just no reason to attribute any importance to their losses in the playoff world.

An undefeated Michigan State is an interesting problem. So do they go to the Rose Bowl or the NCG? My guess is that they will get snubbeed even though they are the best the Big Ten has to offer. Unfortunately, I think the tradition of my Buckeyes playing in high profile games and choking year after year after year has given the Big Ten a black eye.

As for my Buckeyes, what can I say? Not only do they have the worst special teams in school history giving up touchdowns pretty much every game, they have the worst special teams in all of college football. In addition, the defense is not all that good it seems. As for the offense, they simply never have much when they play teams of equal or better quality. At this point it is looking like OSU is the 4rth best team in the Big Ten, assuming Iowa can beat them in Iowa which they should be able to do. Who woulda thunk it? As for TP, I have never really been a big fan even though he has shown improvement. I have never been able to visualize him winning a Heisman.

Hilarious. I'm just waiting for him to come and talk up Boise State as being the #1 team in the nation after beating Timbucktoo University 80-0. 😵

Boise State should be #1. And in case everyone forgot, the team the Broncos just beat in their home field played Alabama on the road in Week 1 - no one complained about that though.

It would be nice if Oregon and Boise State won out; perhaps the Ducks could avenge their loss last year.

Boise will be #1....only until their strength of schedule hits the crapper and the real teams advance to the top.
