American football team on tv now claiming they are world champions????

Only 1 country play the boring game, so how can they claim this?
In Blackpool we have a Monday night pool league where all the pubs compete in 4 divisions with a relegation and promotion system. The league pool rules are slightly different and only played in Blackpool.
Last October, our pub won the Premier league.
Are we world champions?

that's just nonsense, EVERYBODY knows spain is the current champion. u.s. finished 12th.

You can organize a world championship and win by default, but not claim it before.
