As Atlantean has noted, atri has now passed the 1800 games-in-progress mark. If this is art, it is a masterpiece. If it is a political statement, it is a potent one. atri looks the skulls massed before him in the eye, and laughs. in his willingness to take on insuperable odds he at once affirms the value of life itself and demonstrates his complete detachment from the delusional struggle for ratings points. He has attained chess enlightenment, and in turn enlightens the true path for the rest of us to follow.
OK, I think I'm insulted. I just challenged Atri to 100 games. You know, trying to get him over that awkward 1900-games hump we all struggle with. A mix of black and white with what I thought had reasonably generous time controls. Mostly 3/7 with just a couple 1/0's thrown in for good measure.
Anyway, he answers me back with this: Gracias pero ningunas gracias. Estoy en busca de un reto real.

Superb! Even as atri pushes toward 1900, disdaining an easy extra 100 games offered by sbacat, his rating surges to 1450. Just look at the steepness of his ascent. And he is doing it all in the knowledge that skull day looms, and this magnificent edifice he is building must surely come crashing to the ground. "My name is Ozymandias...". Poignant, man, poignant.
